Start with DATA CLEANING - CUSTOMER DATA and PRODUCT DATA - you need a baseline - we have nothing functional until we map back to REAL supplier data . Most files I have seen, over 1 million #'s that supplier item is a MESS and not maintained well. They reuse numbers, when they swap to another vendor. the asset is the data and suppliers have to insist on standardization with incentives.

It's always been my experience that independent distribution, especially well-run family businesses, have helped spawn genuine virtuous leaders. You can make an argument that this stands in very sharp contrast to too many big corporations.

Nearly everyone I talk to do not use nor understand the words tech Stack, what is SLACK, they don't use Office other than outlook and maybe teams. They have no CRM (just talked to Cordova -nothing, they mentioned "act" OMG - We need a Tech Stack Udemy Program for Distribution!!

I was just with a senior distribution leader this morning talking about AI and the tremendous impact AI can (and is having) for forward thinkers, but we also spoke about how important it to not lose, or find a way to incorporate the institutional knowledge that has been formed over many years. We cannot afford to lose that knowledge as this transition happens.

IMO the problem is the Tech stack is based on Older Way Stack. No comprende IT managers , manage hardware and not software and all their resources are spent on patches to a very old ERP. The winners will be those who get it - it is going too fast now

Great point about factory issues disrupting supply because of a part. we've seen this happening for years.
