The winds of change are blowing in the world of Teamster carhaulers, where recent victories have brought about a wave of inspiration and hope for a brighter future. As we reflect on the transformative power of unity and determination portrayed in the latest developments, it's clear that there is much to ponder and discuss. Here are some points to consider: - The story of Teamster carhaulers reclaiming strength and unity through the NMATA changes serves as a beacon of resilience and progress, urging us to strive for positive change in our own endeavors. - The collective efforts of the negotiating team led by Avral Thompson exemplify the impact of strategic vision and unwavering dedication in achieving shared goals and advancing as a community. - The victories in Buffalo, Lordstown, and Kansas City underscore the significance of solidarity and collaboration in overcoming challenges and securing a better future for all stakeholders involved. Reading about these triumphs not only sheds light on the positive developments in the carhaul industry but also sparks introspection on the power of unity and collective action in shaping our world. I'd love to hear your thoughts and feelings on this inspiring journey of transformation and progress. https://lnkd.in/efDcM7G7

Analyze your way to Your Future Career Success /Career Decision Making and Career Planning Specialist / Positive Career Futurist at Constructive Career and Life Designs
Still open to working at 93. Go Captain Kirk! Thanks for the inspiration. For those who follow my work, you know I love what’s happening in the aerospace industry. You may not know that I’m a Trekkie and a Star Wars Fan. Ok let’s add in a Marvel fan too while I reveal more of my nerdy side. What’s more important about this post is the need to talk about ageism. At the last NCDA conference in Chicago I remember having a conversation with fellow career development professionals about the task of finding work for older clients. I made the comment that I knew someone who was helping an eighty year old find work. A women piped up and said she had a 90 year old client she was helping to find employment. Many people need to work after age 65. Many want to work. In a work environment where we are pushing people out the door younger and younger, it’s time to rethink these policies. We talk about inclusion. Not happening. Ask a 50 or sixty year old if they feel included in the workplace. As I often work with this age group I can tell you they struggle to find work and these are people who have current relevant work skills. So I say “Go Shatner!” You make 93 look great. #ageism #careers #retirement #inclusion ##worktrendsofthefuture #Success #careerplanningforabetterfuture

We all have different learning styles This next piece in 'Enabling NextGen Teaming' talks about the power of sitting beside Nellie when you start out in your career or indeed change roles. In this new world of hybrid working we are interested in learning more about: - How is your organisation onboarding new recruits and/or team members? How are you optimising the learning experience of new team members? #hybridworking #teaming #nextgenleaders https://lnkd.in/eFugHPqp

There is something special about ‘sitting beside Nellie’ when you start out in your career or indeed in a new role. I had the privilege of sitting beside ‘Nellie’ whose real name was Mary, when I started in the finance unit at the beginning of my career and I felt supported as I learned how to do things myself. I remember being blown away by the speed of her as she totted and balanced a batch of interbranch items. I was inspired by her speed and accuracy and I watched and I learned. I eventually mastered her skill and remember with fondness the early day competitive banter of our small team as we worked together to try and balance these items at increased speed and with no errors – a ‘win’. Are GenZ recruits getting to sit beside 'Nellie' in this hybrid environment? How would you rate the competitive banter of your early career team? #hybridworking #teaming #nextgenleaders

It’s been six decades since Martin Luther King Jr.’s March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. His dream of what he wanted for his four children rings true today, as the fight for civil rights and social justice continues. The workplace isn’t exempt from the push for racial equity. We want to be seen for our authentic selves at work without having to leave our identities behind before we walk through the virtual door and turn on our Zoom screens, or head into an office. The divide in the white and Black experience at work remains: 👉White executives are 5-8 times more likely to believe that people are treated fairly by race 👉73% of white employees believe all people are treated fairly, compared with 57% of Black employees at a typical workplace A change that Dr. King would likely welcome? The increased recognition of #allyship. Brian Reaves of UKG put it best: "Change only happens, or most typically happens, when the majority gets into the game, meaning they begin to lean in and advocate for topics that are important to the minority." #mlk #marchonwashington #companyculture #diversity #gptw4all
How has race in the workplace changed in the 60 years since Dr. King's famous March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom? https://bit.ly/3EhqHtM What progress have we made? What needs to change? #martinlutherkingjr #GreatPlaceToWork #GPTW4ALL

Aw bless 19-year-old me working at Dixons in Croydon. What a waste of time... It's easy to get caught up in spending time reflecting on things we've done in the past. It feels good sometimes right? There's nothing wrong with it unless it gets out of hand. The posts on my Facebook feed that seem to get the most activity are when people publish pictures of Commercial Road in Portsmouth from the 80's - and everyone bangs on about how great things were back then, and how awful they are now. 🤣 People seem to enjoy comparing 'then' to 'now' and spending time going on about the difference. But - is it helpful? If you're reminiscing because it feels nice - yes that's a great way to spend time if that's what your aim is. My view - and it may be unpopular - is that what I did years ago has little impact on the person I am today, unless... 💥 We take time to consider what we've learned 💥 Decide how we want to show up today 💥 Consider the impact we have on people TODAY In the Continue & Begin® course, we talk about '20-20's. These are the people in your business who have been here 20 years, but they don't have 20 years of experience. Instead, all they've done is repeat year one 20 times, but they've never developed. And their claim to fame? 🙌🏻 "I've been here 20 years!" 🙌🏻 (You know you've got someone in mind already haven't you?) ✅ Anyway - that 19-year-old there in that picture, is about to make a ton of mistakes, and get things wrong. Luckily, I've learned from some of 'em. 🫣 A good one is... 'never get blonde streaks in my hair again - just because everyone else is doing it!' What do you think? #learning #history #reminiscing #growth
