🐻🇺🇸 Happy July 4th!! Today, I'm reading John F Kennedy's Profiles in Courage, a book about US Senators "whose abiding loyalty to their nation, triumphed over all personal and political considerations." I find it inspiring, that these Senators had the courage to make decisions best for the nation, even when it is unpopular, against their party line, and destroys their re-election chances. It takes courage to be a politican. It takes courage to run in your first election, it takes courage to withstand attacks on controversial topics, it takes courage to legislate good policy for the nation's future. I'm so inspired by Cornellian politicans, Cornellians are such great politicians!! Ezra Cornell was a politician, AD White as well!! Cornell's new Brooks Policy School is the best policy school in the whole world, and the Cornell in Washington program has Cornell students interning in all the top legislatures, agencies, and NGOs! I really hope a Cornellian becomes President of America one day!! a courageous quote from the book: "I shall stand by the Union with absolute disregard of personal consequences. What are personal consequences in comparison with the good or evil which may befall a great country in a crisis like this? Let the consequences be what they will, I am careless. No man can suffer too much, and no man can fall too soon, if he suffer or if he fall in defense of the Liberties and Constitution of his Country."

There can be no question that Joe Biden is no longer fit for office. The American people witnessed this last Thursday, and now many in the Democratic Party are calling for the President to step down. This is a watershed moment for America. But we cannot let Donald Trump off the hook either. The debate was amateurish and sounded like two children arguing at the playground, rather than two candidates vying to lead the free world. Trump: "You're the worst President ever." Biden: "No, you’re the worst President ever!" The fourth-grade level of the "debate," the palpable hate emanating from the stage, and the vacuity of most of what they said, shows the urgent need for a full reset of American politics. We have a crisis of leadership in this country, but there is hope. In stark contrast, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stood out with his lucid, insightful, and statesmanlike demeanor during "The Real Debate." His approach was not only presidential but also visionary, demonstrating a clear, original perspective on the pressing issues that matter most to Americans. RFK Jr. embodies the leadership qualities that are desperately needed at this pivotal time in our history. This Independence Day, join us in declaring your independence from failed leadership. Your support will help us build a movement that stands for real leadership this country so desperately needs. Together, we can restore the dignity and integrity of American leadership. Share this message: It is difficult for me to understand how Americans are still considering voting for either Trump or Biden as President. It feels like returning to a cheating ex for the 10th time, hoping they've changed. We're witnessing the same empty debates between these two men and their respective political parties, who have been locked in endless battles instead of prioritizing America and its citizens. They've weaponized money from billionaires to fund their partisan warfare, spending millions to hurl insults at each other during campaigns, yet they rarely address the needs of the people. The root of this issue can be traced back to the 1960s when the promising vision for a better America was shattered by the tragic losses of two patriotic figures, the Kennedys. Since then, we've seen a continual escalation of conflicts and a widening divide between two political parties that no longer seem relevant. Considering a vote for either Trump or Biden signifies a reluctance to see real change in America, despite the current crisis. Nevertheless, true American spirit doesn't surrender easily. Amidst the political chaos, one man stands out: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In this pivotal moment in history, he's embarked on a campaign that embodies true American values, as an independent candidate. Perhaps now, more than ever, the term 'independent' should resonate with all Americans. It's time to break free from the grip of the two-party system and declare 'enough.' With unparalleled political insight, Robert Kennedy Jr. has dedicated his life to defending the people, often at the expense of his own security. He has emerged as a beacon of hope in this critical struggle, aiming to guide America back to its former position as a symbol of peace and prosperity. He possesses the unique ability to bring an end to conflicts and rejuvenate the economy for all Americans, serving as an inspiration to nations worldwide. If I were American, I would unequivocally support Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over the outdated Republican and Democratic parties. It's time to rectify the course of history with someone who truly embodies it, someone who holds America in his heart. My vote would be cast without hesitation for the only man deserving of the title “President”: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

When truth seemed closer to the truth than fiction ... Somehow Andy Borowitiz seems more realistic on this one. Satire can often be the best way to bring out the truth without actually spelling it out. John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, etal. often provide entertainment by stretching tales or as Kellyanne Conway would say "alternative facts." You know your political operation is disrepair when those alternative facts come closer to the truth than what you are actually trying to accomplish. Then again what are the Republicans trying to accomplish? Is it that self fulfulling prophecy of what Ronald Reagan ran on "government is the problem." #governance #governmentistheproblem #politicaldysfunction #anarchyisinthehouse #maga #politicalsatire #federalgovernment #speakerofthehouse https://lnkd.in/eVARSDET

Old age is not a moral failing 🤨 Joe Biden has been getting a full-on bashing that is largely centred on his age. Even people who've no interest in politics have plenty to say on the matter 🙄 The gist of it being: how can an ancient 81-year old possibly run the country, or do anything useful for that matter?! A Princeton University study in 2004 asked participants to compare and rate the "competence" of two unfamiliar politicians. Each face was flashed on a screen for just one second - and then scored by the participants. Astonishingly, the results matched the outcome of the election with 70% accuracy. We make instantaneous judgments of people from a very young age, based on lots of subconscious cues that are programmed into our DNA. That doesn't mean we're right, however! Justine McCarthy has a brilliant piece in The Irish Times today (will link to it in the comments). She points out that old age is not Joe Biden's biggest problem. Look at Willie Nelson - 91; Mick Jagger - 80; Judy Dench - 89; Clint Eastwood - 94; Mary Robinson - 80; and David Attenborough - 98! William Gladstone was prime minister up until 89 years of age. And our own president, Michael D, who is 83 and more mentally agile than people less than half his years will ever be! What do you think, when is 'old age' a problem? And what age does it start at? (asking for a friend! 🥸) #brandstrategy #branding #personalbrand #womeninbusiness

On November 27, 1973, the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly voted in favour of Gerald R. Ford’s succession to the vice presidency in line with the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Earlier in 1973, Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned, and President Richard Nixon nominated Gerald Ford as vice president in line with Article II and the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The 25th Amendment had just been ratified and added to the Constitution in 1967, because the original Constitution was vague and unclear about the rules of succession to the U.S. presidency. And based on the lack of clarity, some Presidents and their Vice Presidents took it upon themselves to draft agreements for handling Presidential succession and inability. Those agreements specified the terms for declaring a President unable to perform the duties of office, and the terms for re-instatement once able to return to duty. The issue of ambiguity on the subject of presidential succession was settled with the passage of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1965, and its subsequent ratification by the states and certification by President Lyndon Johnson on February 23, 1967. Ford also used the 25th Amendment less than a year later to nominate Nelson Rockefeller as vice president, after Ford became president upon the resignation of President Richard Nixon on August 8, 1974. #history #ushistory #usconstitution #uspolitics #americanhistory

A man who succeeds at meeting challenges.
Candidate for U.S. Senate, NYPD First Grade Detective (ret), Security Expert, Small Business Founder
Grateful to be endorsed by the Nassau County and Suffolk County GOP! I believe it is urgent that we confront and defeat New York’s junior U.S. Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, who has proven contemptuous of New York’s needs while consistently supporting the failed policies of the Biden Administration. That is why I am compelled to run for the U.S. Senate. ➡https://lnkd.in/ebYV4PhS

With a bold resolve, former Vice President Mike Pence is gearing up to reroute the Republican Party from its populist detour back to the ethos of Reagan-era conservatism. It's a fascinating development, particularly for those who see him as the steely anchor of traditional conservative values. 🧐 Let’s Read Between the Lines: Is this about philosophical alignment or preparing the battleground for political power struggles? Either way, Pence’s move to reinforce moral and economic conservatism feels almost quixotic in today’s volatile bipartisan wilderness. Populism has recently swayed the ranks, but could a Reaganesque resurgence be around the corner? 📈 Predicting the Future: - The GOP’s potential pivot back to Old Guard conservatism invites a larger question: Can classic Republican virtues resonate in an era of radical rhetoric and polarizing personalities? - The more intriguing twist is Pence’s strategic expansion of his organization, hinting not just at revival but also possibly aiming for reclamation of lost GOP integrity. 👀 What to Watch: - Watch how this initiative impacts Republican primaries. Will Pence’s blueprint win hearts or stir friction? - Monitor the evolving narrative among younger party loyalists trained in populism. Can the teachings of Reagan hold sway, or will they dismiss it as nostalgia? Food for thought: Economic stability, smaller federal government, and a strong national defense were Reagan-era hallmarks. The critical question is, are these principles still the lodestars conservatives yearn to follow? Whatever happens, it's clear that Mike Pence is determined to reshape the narrative. While this might seem like an impossible mission to some, let’s not forget – the political jungle is full of unexpected turns. Brace yourselves – the GOP chessboard just became way more interesting. https://lnkd.in/emdgfXDV

#politics #unitedstates America, with its Ivy League, and George Washington having attended the graduation ceremony at the Andover Academy in Massachusetts, is modeled after the Roman republic to groom its elite ruling class, with the private prep schools serving as feeders to the Ivy League, though Thomas Jefferson believed the Revolution belonged to the people and preferred more local governance. In the United States, the House of Representatives is more representative of the common people, while the Senate is akin to the Roman Senate, filled early in our history by appointment and since 1913 after the XVII Amendment to the Constitution, the same year the #federalreserve and income tax were instituted, by direct popular election as the House. United States of America became a ‘constitutional representative democratic republic’ in 1913 from its origins as a republic run by the elites as Rome was. The ongoing public debate is still nearly entirely between the conservatives and liberals within the Ivy League educated elites, whether that be the ilk of the Kennedys, Clintons, John Kerry, and Obamas on the left or the Bushes and now Trump on the right. Those who did not belong in this group always faced great resistance in American politics, including Joe Biden. Even Ronald Reagan, the commoner, needed his elite rival George H. W. Bush. It is indeed up to we the American people to keep the republic as Franklin said. This means American elitism has now come to a head in its dialog with the people because the elites can be overthrown if the people do not genuinely feel cared for. Donald Trump, the fascist third rail among the establishment elites, cannot take the people for a ride by blaming the traditional political left and right elites for the people’s woes, by demagoging the people treating them as the Roman mob to turn the country into an ochlocracy, a state run by the mob, as he attempted to do on January 06, 2021. How the people ought to be cared for is ripe for the next stage of evolution as it did in 1913, more than a century ago, as technology evolves, coming closer to Athenian direct democracy and moving away from Rome, with the people wanting to be more involved in their governance as the Plymouth puritans directly were. Harvard University was established in 1636 for the Puritans to educate their children in piety to learn to directly govern themselves when they broke away from the British Court of King James I much as Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence and his later letter to the Danbury Baptists in favor of freedom of worship without state interference did for the establishment of United States of America in 1776. Americans are no longer interested in putting up with elitism, left, right, or fascist, because it has all failed.
