Two years ago, Spar Qatar proudly took the initiative to introduce the ISA SpA Teselli Plug-In refrigeration units to its stores, aiming to enhance the refrigeration capabilities and set a new standard in the Middle East market. As the pioneering retailer to embrace the ISA brand in this region, our expectations were high, but unfortunately, our experience has been a stark contrast to what we anticipated. Initially, the ISA Teselli refrigeration units showcased promising features and modern design, instilling confidence in their capabilities. However, this optimism quickly waned as we encountered a multitude of issues, particularly during the warranty period. Most notably, we experienced the baffling phenomenon of glass doors breaking autonomously, with more than 10 units requiring replacement. These incidents occurred without any discernible external force, raising serious concerns about the product's durability and reliability. Moreover, our recent ordeal involving the failure of four compressors has further underscored the inadequacies of the ISA SpA Teselli units, significantly disrupted our store operations and caused undue inconvenience to our customers. In addition to the product's inherent flaws, our dissatisfaction with ISA Teselli extends to the realm of after-sales service. Despite our efforts to address the recurring issues and procure spare parts locally, we were met with a disheartening reality - there are no spare parts available locally, and obtaining them necessitates only through local distributor and service partner. This logistical hurdle has proven the challenges we face in promptly maintaining and repairing refrigeration units. The inefficiency and lack of responsiveness displayed by the service provider only serve to compound our frustrations, leaving us disillusioned with the entire experience. Regrettably, our decision to choose ISA Teselli for our Spar stores has proven misguided. Despite our initial optimism and the brand's potential, the reality of our experience paints a grim picture of subpar durability, performance, and after-sales support. As a result, we can no longer endorse ISA Teselli as a viable option for refrigeration solutions. Service provider, client, or both ? October, 2022. I had the previlege of drinking coffee with one of the most amazing people I encountered by then. A business man in nature, based in Khobar. He said and I quote: “A wise man will treat his suppliers and clients with the same respect.” He continued: there was a time when we needed a cargo to reach Jeddah port in two days. It was a season, it was difficult. One of our logistics partners took it upon themselves to walk the extra mile without guarantees, only a history of successful partnership. The thing about business men in general, they are judge, jury and executioners. Unlike corporate professionals who follow a chain of command with designated tasks. A business man/woman will often take matter into their own hands. Because it’s their asset. I think about what he said a lot. And I wonder, is the supplier still a supplier when things get super urgent ? Or is the whole supplier/client spectrum a matter of context only ? Sometimes we are clients, sometimes we are suppliers.
