Join the NMR crystallography Faraday Discussion! The meeting is being held from 4 - 6 September 2024 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. There is still time to submit a oral abstract. The deadline has been extended to 22 January 2024. More information here: https://lnkd.in/e_zDCZ9v This meeting is aimed at established and early-career scientists, post-graduate students and industrial researchers interested in NMR crystallography and related techniques. The unique format of the Faraday Discussions will allow for in-depth discussions of emerging computational and experimental methods in the field of NMR crystallography, as well as the current limitations and challenges that need to be overcome to broaden applications to increasingly complex materials. #conferences #chemistry #FaradayDiscussion #NMR #Crystallography

#phdpositions in development and applications of #Nonadiabatic #QuantumDynamics methods for #Exciton and #ChargeTransfer processes in biomolecular #LightHarvesting proteins.
Hiring: Two PhD positions in Computational (Bio)Physics/Chemistry Two PhD positions on Computational (Bio)Physics/Chemistry and on the Dynamics of Open Quantum Systems are available in the group of Prof. Ulrich Kleinekathöfer at Constructor University in Bremen, Germany https://lnkd.in/eAEHEBR2 One position is focused on multi-scale modeling of charge transfer in heme-containing complexes. The respective research will involve a combination of quantum and molecular dynamics simulations as well as electronic structure calculations with some similarities to earlier work on charge and excitation energy transfer also using non-adiabatic methods. The second project focuses on the dynamics in open quantum systems applied, e.g., to the time propagation of excitons and charges in biological systems such as light-harvesting complexes but with possible connections to quantum computing. The successful candidates should hold a master degree in theoretical (bio)physics or theoretical (bio)chemistry. Solid knowledge in the theory of molecular systems and statistical mechanics as well as skills in molecular dynamics simulations are highly desirable especially for the first position. Proficiency in programming would be beneficial. The PhD positions are available immediately and applications will be considered until the positions are filled. Applicants should submit a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and the names of two referees.

Today our paper on the first ice nanoparticle hypervelosity impact spectra with SELINA was published in The Philosophical Transactions A issue 'Dust in the Solar System and beyond'. Many thanks for the co-authors and editors, especially Nozair Khawaja and Fabian Klenner who together with other co-editors organised and managed this special issue. One very interesting point in the published work is that we have demonstrated the negative ions are produced in the impact of positively charged ice particle. https://lnkd.in/dTY2YaK6
