When people think about #trains, they often think about the very practical sense of #commuting. But trains are so beloved by many they can actually serve as a source of entertainment. Case in point: Catskill Mountain Railroad set a ridership record in 2023 with over 51,000 passengers. By far, their most popular ride is their "Polar Express," which accounted for just over 60% of their business. Here's the big economic data point: Over 85% of their customers were from outside the Catskill region, which means they play a significant part in attracting #tourism to the area. These tourists demand exceptional train service, and Florida is rising to the occasion, slowly but surely. Keep an eye on Brightline West between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. What route should it take? Should it go south to Rancho Cucamonga and transfer riders to Metrolink, or should it follow the High-Desert Corridor between Victorville and Palmdale, and then share tracks with California High-Speed Rail between Palmdale and Los Angeles? We took an unexpected sharp turn at high speeds on our Volta ride back in October, but we didn’t stop moving. To my Volta colleagues: It is great to see so many of the amazing people with whom I shared the mission of making cities safer and cleaner moving on to new adventures. It is even greater to see part of the Volta family giving it all to bring it back to life. The exciting moment when I spot a Volta Zero driving through Paris with my kids for the first time can still happen! As for me: Following the bankruptcy of Volta, I was free to ask myself, "What should I do with my life?". The idea of becoming an entrepreneur was not new to me, but for the first time, it came in the middle of what seemed like the perfect “now or never” moment. And I was extremely lucky to be sitting next to people thinking the same way when it happened! This is our decade: Today I’m super happy to launch Decade Energy alongside a group of brilliant minds and visionaries: Carl-Magnus Norden, Casper Norden, Mariela Atanasova, Alexandre Cleret. We’re now officially on a mission to help accelerate fleet electrification by providing a holistic energy solution to give electric logistics a competitive advantage.
