How Metallica rocking Montreal’s Olympic Stadium reignites debate about venue’s relevance. There are much fewer articles being written on the economic impact of the M72 tour than there are for other tours. It doesn’t make the headlines like the Eras tour or have a catchy phrase like Beyoncenomics. And I find that curious, because bringing in 100,000+ plus fans for a weekend full of events has to be creating an impact. But at least in Montreal, it has sparked “the ongoing debate as to whether taxpayers’ money should go toward its repair” of the Olympic Stadium. It is an odd question: is it worth having a venue capable of hosting mega-events when it doesn’t have a home team? In Orlando we faced this question when we renovated what is now Camping World Stadium: did the few college bowls a year justify having (and spending hundreds of millions to renovate) a football stadium with no home team? We have a basketball stadium, and now a soccer stadium, both with their own teams. (One of which paid for itself with private funds so it can be whatever it likes). So did we really need our football stadium? Now, maybe we did. We’ve had some mega-concerts since the refurbishment. And music festivals, and events, and even exposition of European Football, the Soccer Champions Tour. So maybe it was worthwhile for the caliber of events we’ve hosted. But as always, the question is, after spending the tax dollars, have we seen the economic impact / returns? And because of that question, around the world aging infrastructure is making cities think about how much they need these venues that don’t have home teams. Now, the controversial opinion here is why do we worry about a venue having a home team? In most cities taxpayers pay for these venues even if they DO have a home team that gets to reap the rewards, so why can’t taxpayers choose to support a venue for events even without a home team? Probably because most cities don’t have enough tax revenue to support all their other infrastructure needs on top of a venue for pure entertainment functions. But still, if you can afford it, I don’t think having a home team is a requirement for a world class venue. But that list of cities with no team that also want/can afford it is probably low. https://lnkd.in/eyXTQd9Z #letsmakeplans #infrastructure #liveentertainment #stadiums #livemusic

How do I get synchs????? This is one of the most common questions I get asked by artists. Synch is seen by musicians as an easier way to get proper money, but is it really? Jasmin Tadjiky and I have done well out of synch in our careers but it took a long time to build that business. It involved a lot of research, connecting with music supervisors and synch agents, building trust, being available when the opportunities came and for Jasmin, she had to tap into different parts of creativity to make music that works for ads or tv or film. Its a new skill! I think a lot of artists make a track and think ‘oh I can totally hear this on Stranger Things’ and thats enough, but the market is competitive. Its rarely as easy as that. These are sole of my tips : 1. Do your research: learn who the music supervisors are and what they’re working on. They’re busy people flooded sith music so make sure you know their work and what they look for. 2. Send them music that’s relevant. Keep it personal, short and snappy. Send it on a link they can stream from and download. 3. Admin. Make sure your metadata on the track is clear, you have your instrumental versions and lyric sheets ready. Being one-stop helps when your starting out but if you have a collborator make sure youve agreed splits etc… 4. Form relationships with people. Go to synch conferences. Find out where they hang out and try to meet them. Be useful to them. This takes time! 5. Hone your craft. Practice writing music for ads and film. Make demos for synch in your own time. Find the creative part of your brain that understands the difference between a song for your artist project and a song for ads. Sometimes they will use a released artist project track for something but I have often found that stuff written with synch in mind is more successful. Music supervisors….. are there any more tips for artists trying to build a synch business? Or if I’m wrong in these please correct me!

Digital ticketing is the target of many sports clubs, but won't it be outdated soon? I want to share some of my takeaways from the panel discussions at #TBF24. 1️⃣ Dynamic pricing could become a thing in the event sector as more and more organizers seek to capture full revenue potential and strengthen their fight against secondary markets. 💰 💡This should not come at the expense of genuine fans who might be replaced by the rich 2️⃣ Clubs and venues are pushing towards digital tickets but it comes with a catch 🔖 💡Franco Segarra interestingly pointed out that despite the convenience, their fans require a collectible element 3️⃣ Transfer to digital-only ticketing in 6 weeks time is what I call having balls 💥 💡Sunderland AFC is a great example that radical change can happen faster than you can imagine and sometimes it´s better to act than continuously hesitate 4️⃣ And one last quote by Shah-Zeib Ahmed which stuck with me 💭“Tradition keeps sports alive, innovation makes it thrive” And that´s the direction we want to take with TruCrowd. Keep the good, and make the rest better. We will slowly shift to the era of FaceTickets where even digital will seem outdated and boring. As Alex Grant said, people used to flex when paying 500 bucks with their watch, but paying with face will become the real deal. #ticketing #faceticket #sportbiz #digitalization
