Celebrating some anniversaries this month in January… 🎉 2024 marks my 7th year at Allegion! Little did I know that accepting that offer years ago would lead to so much fun, learning and development for me and others over the years! And the friendships.. some of the most amazing people I have ever met work at Allegion or worked there and are now my friends. In January 2023, I started studying to obtain my NASM personal training certification, which I obtained in April 2023. The last eight months have been full of learning and growing as I became a fitness coach, started a strength program at my gym, paused that program and now, I’m coaching CrossFit. And having a blast doing it! I love sharing my knowledge of fitness with others, but really love to see them set PRs or conquer a really tough workout. It’s so rewarding! You never know what might happen when you say “yes” to an opportunity. 😀💜👏 #growth #development #funatwork #coworkers #support #celebrate #compensationprofessional #anniversary #lifelonglearner #coach #strengthandconditioning #crossfit #sidegig

Recruitment Trainer, developing people in the recruitment industry through face to face and online video training. My objective is to get you 'RecruiterFit!'
Hands up! I failed. 1. They say "age is just a number" 2. They say, "The difference between try and triumph, is just a little UMPH" 3. They say "Own your failures and learn from them" Well, let's deal with those right now from my POV. 1. True BUT age is also an accumulation of knowledge, experiences, skills and a catalogue of endeavours with both positive and negative outcomes. Part of my 'history' was playing too many 'bendy over' sports like field hockey and squash, hence some back problems later in life. I set myself a target in December 2023 to complete a 5k park run with my son and his wife by the end of this month. Training on the gym treadmill has been going well and up to 5.5k in 35 minutes BUT and it's a BIG BUT... ... that is not the same as running on a road! Yesterday was the first time I did a road run in my entire life and unfortunately after the 5k run I was in bits. Even the day after I am still feeling the effects which has aggravated a back operation I had (lumbar facetectomy) about 15 years ago. So at my age I have had to make a tough decision - the park run isn't happening 😢 my age caught up with me and I can hear my wife saying "it's about bloody time you realised that!" 2. Yes, I did TRY and have been working hard on that nice comfortable, bouncy treadmill but the road run has left me without the 'UMPH' required. As my nan used to say "Listen to your body". I do, I have and it said "Don't ever do that road running again and that includes the park run". Thanks nan. 3. Here I am owning up. I failed, I have learned and I will focus on other pursuits whilst in the comfort of the Health and Fitness Club at Birchwood. 💪 Life is a never ending series of lessons that teach us what to do and what not to do, what to say and what not to say and it's these lessons that create 'you'. So pay attention to the lessons. Tuesday's sermon - over! Alan aka Mr. RecruiterFit (only just, and NO, I'm not going back to do the press up challenge instead!) #recruitmenttraining #recruitment #talentacquisition #lifelessons

Friday Thoughts: Your 'Why' is inseparable from the long game. I'm ending the week at my daughter's equestrian competition. A horse show facility is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places to take a walk, either early in the morning before competitors get going or after everyone has shut down for the day. Last night towards dusk, I took a (hot) walk and reflected on my career journey. As a solo mum, I talked about how the last 16 years of my career have had a foundational Why that has supported my focus on the long game. By the way, I define solo vs single mum in my talk; there's a difference. Net. If I can have a successful career in the face of long-term challenges, you can too, but you must have a passionate 'Why' that makes time irrelevant, keeps you focused on progress, and keeps you steady through the hard work that will pay off over time. Song of the week: 1234 by Feist. It's excellent walking feel-good music that says some inspirational things about the long game; "Old teenage hopes are alive at your door." "You know who you are." Don't stop dreaming and do what it takes to realize them. Have a great weekend. #fridaythoughts #longgame #successfulchangemindset #successfulchange #transformation #yourwhy #changemanagement

The golf course is my home away from home. ⛳️ Being out on the course is beyond gratifying for me. It's a place where I can relax, hang out with some incredible people, and get away from it all. I always feel blessed by simply pausing and taking in the beauty around me. Not only that, but I've discovered that the way we should play the game translates to how each of us should live our lives. ✅ Eliminate distractions. Seriously. Try to swing or putt while distracted, and you're going to have a lousy time! It's best to clear your head and focus on what's ahead of you. ✅ Surrounding yourself with great people makes you better. You begin to seamlessly pick up their habits and can go to them for help or advice. Not to mention, it motivates you to step your game up! ✅ To get better at something, you have to WORK at it! So simple, yet so true! Improvement requires time, energy, and consistency. Do you have a favorite hobby? #LiveLikeALion #CMG

BULK VS. CUT Everyone will have their opinions on each other and their own physiques, but I know what I prefer. I often think bulking to optimise gains to then cut down is a long process and a necessary evil. But, providing you do it right, and implement the right strategies at the right time with your input vs output You can have an end results you can be really proud of - especially after doing it for 10 years 😅🫣 sorrynotsorry That's right, it takes time! And you have to graft in the gym week in week out to get there too... I actually prefer the cut. However, having one without the other isn't possible - I know this because for my first two years I didn't touch a surplus at all 🙄 Here's some things you need to know though. Bulking when you're already fat is a terrible route. Bulking full stop takes patience and trust in yourself - it's like growing you hair, at one point you're gonna look like The Beatles - but then eventually it will all pay off. Another reason to trust the process, and if you really can't hire a coach you can trust to guide you there 👋 #ptbirmingham #tamworthfitness #castlebrom #suttoncoldfield #121gymcoach #personaltrainerbirmingham #swbirmingham #gymbuddy #bootcamp #birthdaysingalong #bhamweightloss #celebratingclients #clientcoaching #resultsfocusedcoach #transformationcoach #puregym #puregymbirmingham #puregymsuttoncoldfield

#PRACTICE does not necessarily make perfection............................ I love this quote by Lou Holtz: ✔ #Ability is what you're capable of doing. ✔ #Motivation determines what you do. ✔ #Attitude determines how well you do it. Taking time to practice, especially with young children, helps them be motivated, trust themselves, which in turn creates an attitude of "I CAN" and your ability naturally evolves. So many forces telling our children today that they CAN'T, and they WON'T.... we as parents/friends/mentors need to help reinforce a #ICAN attitude. I've had a chance to have these 1:1 session with my son several times in the last 2-3 years.... I've seen his personal growth and his mental strength in believing himself and I hope this continues for him. When he was 4.5 years old, he had decided to never play organized soccer because of fear.... fast forward to now when he is 9 years old, and he has been playing for about 2 years in a local team. Marcel Souza, Renan Pereira, Gustavo Zioli - olha o moleque crescendo ai hahaha :) I am sure I am off on this a bit, but would love to know your opinion Dr. Bobby Low #parenting #parents #parent #icadoit #icanattitude #mentalstrenght #mental #mentalresilience #mentalpractice #sportsmanship #sports #futsal #futsal #sportspsychology
