Hey Target!!!!!
Thank you.
My son has a disability. He has neurological hearing loss. Inherited from me. It sets him apart and makes him stand out.
We try to always stay positive with it but some days can be hard.
Then a day like today happens and it just makes it easier.
Today my son went shopping with my wife and he saw a model wearing hearing aids.
“Mom!!! He has hearing aids like me! Can you take my picture with him?”
It was an amazing feeling to see my son relate with another boy, in a totally positive way, around their similar hearing loss.
So thank you Target for being inclusive. It is a beautiful thing on so many levels. Don’t stop.
Our differences are what makes us unique. It's what makes the world operate effectively. Each individual brings a unique set of skills, perspectives, and experiences to the table, contributing to the rich tapestry of human society.
When children see diversity in advertising, whether it's in terms of gender, race, or disability, it can light up their world and make them feel like they belong.
Research shows that representation in media and advertising has a significant impact on how children perceive themselves and others. When children see people who look like them in ads, it can boost their self-esteem and confidence. It also helps to break down stereotypes and promote inclusivity.
The world is not cookie-cutter, and it's essential for children to see a diverse range of people in marketing campaigns. This visual awareness helps children develop empathy, understanding, and acceptance of others who may be different from them. It also sends a powerful message that everyone is valued and deserving of respect.
Embracing our differences benefits society in numerous ways. It fosters a culture of inclusivity and acceptance, where individuals feel valued for who they are. This, in turn, leads to greater collaboration, understanding, and empathy among people from all walks of life.
GREAT JOB Target!

It’s the small things that matter a great deal in promoting a cause.
We all must ask ourselves: what can we do in our everyday lives that can enable others better. What can we do to make each other better? What can we do to make everyone feel included & cultivate a sense of belonging?!
Well done Target! You are leading by example.

What a heartwarming story! Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment. 🥰🤗
Inclusion is so vital because it allows everyone to see themselves represented and feel valued. When companies like Target make the effort to be inclusive, it sends a powerful message that everyone matters and belongs.
Inclusion isn’t just about checking a box, it’s about creating environments where differences are celebrated and everyone can see themselves reflected positively. Representation matters deeply, especially for children. Seeing someone like themselves in a positive light can boost their self-esteem and help them feel more accepted and understood.
Kudos to Target for their commitment to inclusion. Let’s continue to advocate for and support inclusive practices in all areas of life, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to feel seen, heard, and valued. This is the essence of building a truly inclusive society.

As a parent of a middle aged adult with sensori-neural healing loss and who uses hearing aids..I can definitely say even adults do feel a sense of relief when we see others with similar disabilities..be it in real life or in advertisements etc.
More and more representation of disability in public spaces is very very important to create awareness and to create reminders to the general public of the importance if inclusion.
Hats off to Target..in this case.

I want to see + hear more disabled stories like THIS in the world … Stories where a disabled person actually feels seen! Not the constant bullshit putting people with disabilities down, ignoring us + looking away when we struggle, or using mobility devices to make a person appear weak.
[[ TheEconomist Newspaper Limited has A LOT to fucking learn from Target!!! ]]
Millions of disabled folks of ALL ages use adaptive, assistive, and medical devices to get us through the world and help us get our needs met. But needing these things DOES NOT make us weak!
It does, however, make you look like a giant ableist + ageist asshole for highlighting the very things that make us different. Disabled and senior folks get enough shit from society as it is, we DO NOT need you adding more fuel to the fire.
