News just in - dates for immigration changes confirmed: - 11 March 2024 - removal of the right for care workers and senior care workers to bring dependents - 4 April 2024 - increase to the Skilled Worker Minimum salary threshold to £38,700 p.a. - 14 March 2024 - new immigration rules dealing with changes to the Shortage Occupation List/Salary Discount List (presumably to become effective on 4 April 2024 when the Skilled Worker salary levels change). This will remove the 20% discount and temporarily add any occupations recommended by the Migration Advisory Committee to the new Immigration Salary List. Any businesses/individuals wanting to get ahead of these changes will need to move quickly. #immigrationlaw #recruitment #skilledworker

Rapid Review of the Immigration Salary List. Following the Government’s announcement to reform the Skilled Worker route, the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) was commissioned to carry out a ‘rapid review’ of the new Immigration Salary List (ISL). The ISL is yet to be created and is due to replace the Shortage Occupation List (SOL) in April 2024. The review appears to have been so ‘rapid’ that the MAC has suggested a lack of clarity from the Government as to the fundamental purpose of the ISL. The MAC also has concerns regarding the increased gap between publicly and privately funded occupations and the significant lift of the general salary threshold. The MAC are expecting to complete a full review of the ISL later this year. As always, the MAC report is a ‘recommendation’ for the Government to consider, so it is not guaranteed that anything illustrated in the report will be implemented. We will be monitoring Government announcements as we move towards the implementation date. 📢 The United Kingdom is set to further restrict immigration through increased salary requirements and other measures, effective April 4th and 11th, 2024. Among the changes are an increase in the minimum general salary threshold for the Skilled Worker Route, the abolition of the Shortage Occupation List in favor of the Immigration Salary List, and an expansion of the work that a sponsored worker can perform outside of sponsored work.
