Nordic #1 in M&A deal volume for the 7th consecutive year! Again, we are delighted to have topped the Mergermarket Nordic rankings according to the Mergermarket Legal Advisor League Tables 2023.   Our lawyers in the Nordic region have been involved in 262 registered transactions in 2023 and are once again the most successful M&A legal advisor in the Nordic region. I’m thrilled to be a finalist for the Financial Services Lawyer of the year. Looking forward to celebrating with my corporate counsel colleagues at the Gala event in Sydney. The Lawyers Weekly Corporate Counsel Awards are incredibly important as they provide external recognition from our profession to our profession - for the hard work, dedication, good judgment and strategic project management that in-house Lawyers bring to the organisations they protect and promote. In-house lawyers naturally have enterprise-wide thinking, as the “client” is the company/organisation - We are the anti-silo warriors! Whilst each company/organisation has a different industry, purpose, and culture. What remains unchanged from an in-house perspective is it’s about helping the business navigate the commercial landscape safely and strategically. You need to be comfortable being uncomfortable and navigating complex and grey scenarios and issues. I believe in the trusted advisor model – at its core it is about earning and building trust in professional relationships. In business, every interaction is an opportunity to build trust. This goes both ways, you must give trust to get trust. Answering a query of someone in the business, and being technically correct or right, isn’t enough to create trust. You must also be helpful, offering advice that can improve the internal customers business or help solve their challenges. Every experienced in-house lawyer understands how hard it is to blow our own trumpets when so much of what we do is privileged and confidential - which is why recognition of in-house lawyers by in-house lawyers is vital!
