La Salle University grad Emily Banashefski, ’23, MBA ’24, was featured in The Times Herald! Emily is a current graduate student at La Salle studying business systems and analytics. While she’s not in class, Emily plays on the club soccer team HEX FC Tempest in the Women’s Premier Soccer League. Happy Throwback Thursday! La Salle Athletics adopted a 17th century-style French explorer as its mascot. However, from 1962 until the mid 1970s, the Explorer was actually an astronaut. It took some time to catch on, but the “Explorernaut” was embraced by fans over time. After reverting to its standard Explorer for the 1980s and most of the 1990s, La Salle introduced a blue superhero named The Tick, featuring arms with big biceps! The Tick never gained popularity and, after four years, was replaced again with today’s Explorer who we all know and love. #BeKnownForMore #LaSalleHistory @lasallehistroy

Each year the La Salle University Alumni Association holds its annual awards celebration and honors alumni and community leaders with the John J. Finley, ‘24 Award and Signum Fidei Medal. The John J. Finley, ‘24 Award honors a La Salle graduate who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the University. It is named for John J. Finley, ’24, a former Alumni Association President who was known as “Mr. La Salle.” The Signum Fidei Medal is awarded to individuals or organizations for their contributions to upholding humanitarian principles and the goals and mission of La Salle University and the Christian Brothers. Signum Fidei, meaning “sign of faith,” is the motto of the Christian Brothers. 🏆 Nominate an alumnus/a for the John J.
