AT&T says hackers stole the call and text records of almost all of its wireless customers https://buff.ly/3y5Iqoh 'AT&T reported a security breach where hackers accessed call and text records of the majority of their wireless customers. The compromised data includes phone numbers customers interacted with but excludes sensitive information like SSNs or birth dates. The breach, discovered in April, involved illegal downloading of customer data from a third-party cloud platform. AT&T is working with cybersecurity experts and law enforcement to address the issue, closing access points. Affected customers, spanning cellular, MVNO, and landline users, will be notified. Despite job scams accounting for only 9% of total identity scams in 2023, they are considered an emerging threat that continues to grow. Advancements in artificial intelligence and the increase in remote work opportunities have contributed to the rise in employment scams.
