👋🏽 LTC Nurses and CNAs! Are you constantly changing jobs due to toxic work environments? Do you feel like all long-term care/nursing home cultures are alike? If you're nodding along, I've got a solution to help you stick it out at work: shift your mindset to positivity! Work environments turn toxic only if we allow them to. Taking charge of our well-being begins with a simple shift in mindset. Whether your workplace is toxic, bustling, chaotic, or even fantastic, adopting a positive outlook can make all the difference! Here are three actionable strategies to cultivate a positive mindset amidst chaos: Understand Patterns Get to know the behaviors and patterns of your team, managers, coworkers, and patients, but most importantly, yourself. Recognizing how people operate enables you to respond appropriately and not take things personally. Set Boundaries Advocate for yourself by establishing clear boundaries. Equip yourself with skills that bolster your mental and emotional resilience in both your personal and professional life. Remember Your Purpose Reflect on why you chose a career in nursing. Acknowledge the challenges inherent in healthcare. While we can't control everything, we can provide exceptional care to our patients, leaving a positive impact on their lives. At the end of your shift, relish in the satisfaction of knowing that your small gestures brought a smile to your patients' faces. Their gratitude is the ultimate reward! Embracing this mindset promises a less stressful workday, even in a toxic environment. Let's shift our perspective towards a brighter outcome! #LTC #MINDSETSHIFT #TOPTIERNURSES

As You Begin Your Week remember… Don’t look at the past with regret, wishing things had gone better. It’s time you understood that you are co-creators with God, in charge of rebuilding a more promising future. With your thoughts, time, and attention keyed into God’s vision, you can be gap-fillers — completing the gaps in the industry and the relationship that you’ve been placed in." 🙏✨ Esther 3:14 (KJV) For such a time as this… Keep moving forward, trust in God's plan, and be the change! 💪💖🌍 #Faith #Purpose #Future #TrustGod

#mondaymotivation In today's world, it's easy to get caught up in the race for visibility. But true impact isn't measured by how often we're seen, but by how deeply we're heard. "Choose to be heard, not seen" reminds us to focus on the power of our words, actions, and ideas. It's about making meaningful contributions that resonate and create lasting change. Let's prioritize authenticity and substance over superficiality and image! What matters most is the legacy we build through our voice and the positive influence we impart! #DepthOverDisplay #BeyondTheSurface #RawExpression #MondayMotivation

#AngelmanSyndromeAwareness The Walk of Angelman Syndrome was absolutely beautiful! My eldest granddaughter, Kylie was diagnosed at 9 months with Angelman's Syndrome! We were told she wouldn't walk, talk, and there wouldn't be any improvement for her intellectually! She is now 9 years old, walking and running! She's not verbal but she's able to communicate her needs using pictographs! She's improving intellectually everyday, beating the odds!

#TrueStoryTuesday #Nursing #LPN #Healthcare #LTC #TopTierNurses This past weekend, I provided care for a newly admitted patient in skilled nursing for rehabilitation following a hospital stay. The patient presented with several complaints, which I promptly addressed with both the patient and his wife. Through careful assessment, I was able to identify the source of his pain and consulted with the physician, who ordered medication and labs for the patient. Today, the patient reports a significant improvement in his pain, and both he and his wife expressed their gratitude. During our conversation, the patient's wife asked if I was a registered nurse (RN). When I informed her that I was not, she responded, "Hun, you should go back to school and become an RN, you are an excellent nurse!" While her comment was flattering, it also prompted me to reflect on the common misconception that only RNs can provide exceptional care. As a licensed practical nurse (LPN), I frequently encounter this sentiment. To all my fellow LPNs, let's continue to demonstrate our value and impact in the nursing profession. Whether we are LPNs, RNs, nurse practitioners (NPs), or certified nursing assistants (CNAs), each role plays a crucial part in improving patients' lives. It's essential that our community recognizes and appreciates the contributions of every member of the healthcare team. After all, we cannot effectively fulfill our roles without one another!

I am feeling so blessed and honored to be here in Washington DC to watch the first screening of #EverybodysWork. Thank you to SHIFT Nursing, RWJF, Chad Tingle, and nurses who speak my name in rooms I am not in for this honor and opportunity. If you know me you know I don’t seek the spotlight. I prefer to work quietly in the background creating paths for other nurses to be seen and heard, especially nurses whose voices and experiences have been historically silenced. I would normally be anxious today but the truth is I will be surrounded by nurses who know that nursing is love in action. I will be among people who I love, respect, and admire. I cannot imagine a safer and more joyful space. I cannot wait to see all of the fearless nurses, those in the film and those who are not but make an impact everyday. You all inspire me and keep me hopeful about the change we can make as a community of equity minded nurses. Today I am reflecting on a quote from my beloved friend Patrick McMurray, MSN, RN. “I say that nursing is an act of justice, or at least that it should be an act of justice, because we live in a world where so many people aren’t treated fairly and there’s a lopsidedness and disproportionate treatment of people. And as a nurse, when I’m working with a patient or when I’m working with someone in the community, I have the opportunity, for that short amount of time that I’m with them, to negate or correct the wrongs” #EverybodysWork #StartYourSHIFT #MySHIFTStartsNow #EverybodysWorkFilm https://lnkd.in/gWkPftYe

Hokas might be our unofficial uniform, but what’s the true badge of a nurse? Just ask this group of fearless nurses from our upcoming film, “Everybody’s Work: Healing What Hurts us All.” In workplaces, schools and organizations across the country, they’re standing up and fighting for health justice. We can’t wait to share their stories with you. Learn more at EverybodysWork.com #MyShiftMatters #EverybodysWork #EverybodysWorkFilm

#MondayMindset #GrassrootsImpact Being at the grassroots of the Long-Term Care and Skilled Nursing Community is where I believe I can make a positive impact. I work alongside my fellow LPNs, RNs, and CNAs in LTC/SNF facilities. I understand the challenges of working short-staffed, being mandated to work 16-hour shifts while caring for 22 or more patients, and assisting CNAs when they are also short-staffed, which often sets me back on my duties. I feel the despair when CNAs are short-staffed, having to care for 14 or more patients and double that amount on the third shift. I understand the feeling of not being appreciated. I know firsthand what it's like to share ideas with management to improve working conditions, only to have those ideas shut down. I empathize with patients who have to wait more than 10 minutes to have their call lights answered due to staff shortages. Family members often don't trust the staff, making it difficult to build a trusting relationship between the nursing staff and family members. Being at the grassroots level gives me the opportunity to enhance my emotional resilience and share my skills/expertise to improve the mindset of my colleagues. I aim to educate, uplift, support, and encourage them to advance their careers in the long-term care and skilled nursing industry. My intention was never to advance my nursing career in the corporate world of healthcare. Being at the grassroots level is more impactful for my life's purpose! #GrassrootsImpact #LongTermCare #SkilledNursing #NurseLife #CNA #PatientCare #TopTier
