Swvl: Founded in April 2017(7 years ago) in Cairo, Egypt by Mostafa Kandil, Ahmed Sabbah, and Mahmoud Nouh. Swvl is an Egyptian startup that provides convenient transportation services (intercity, B2B, intercity and B2G services) through its mobile app. Users can request these services at a fixed price rate with a large fleet of vans and buses. Swvl has gained significant grounds in Africa, landing a sizable sum of investments for its expansion. Areas currently being served are: Egypt, Europe, Jordan, Mexico, Latin America, Kenya, Saudi Arabia and UAE. In 2018, Swvl closed its Series A and Series B rounds of funding. Series A raised $8 million while Series B raised between $25-35 million, with a company valuation of around $100 million. Both rounds were co-led by Dubai-based BECO Capital, Africa-based investor DiGAME, and Silicon Badia. The company went public in March 2022 and is traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker SWVL.
