What would you fill in for you and your child/children ?
This past Saturday, I presented at a community expo, and my topic was, " But I'm Just a Parent: Inspiring Reading Success for Young Children, Especially Boys.
This is one of the handouts that I provided to attendees.
We had an amazing time learning how to troubleshoot and even avoid issues completely when trying to develop a successful at-home reading routine.
One of the questions that I loved the most was a parent asking what they should do about a child who wanted to stop and talk about everything in the book they were reading.
My answer...
Let them talk!
For some children, this is how they process and comprehend books, at least in the beginning.
Eventually, you can start guiding them to ensure that they have the skills to survive in a classroom setting, where they might not have the time or additional person to talk books over with.
Would you like for me to share my presentation here or with you, personally?
Let me know in the comments.
Remember, together, we can inspire a new generation of readers, especially boys.
