Culling doesn't and won't work to control bTB in cattle.
All that badger culling does is kill badgers.
We discuss government plans to continue badger culling indefinitely on BBC Farming Today (16/3/24) >>

94% of bTB disease is spread from cattle to cattle.
Current testing methods do not show the direction of travel of the disease. A recent study found cattle are 800 TIMES more likely to spread bTB to badgers than the other way around.
If there was a 56% reduction in cattle bTB in cattle, we'd also see this in the percentage of cattle prematurely slaughtered due to bTB. We haven't; it's remained at around 0.5% since before the cull began.
Birch study authors point out they cannot distinguish the effect of culling from other measures.
To pinpoint culling as an effective bTB control method is impossible. That's because, alongside culling, farmers have to implement more stringent cattle measures, especially in High Risk Areas
