I'm Bridging the Gap Between Marketing Solutions and Urban Planning, Sustainability, and Climate Goals | Creating Content that Engages and Inspires | GIS Grad Student at Penn State
Another data set that was shared on a housing forum to showcase just how much new hosuing Minneapolis has allowed, in this case versus the Providence, RI area. Cities like Minneapolis and Austin have continued to build more housing beyond demand, leading to stabilizations and decreases in housing costs. Unfortunately, many of our legacy cities have fallen behind, which leads to increases in housing costs and doesn't address demand. #urbanplanning #housing

We all know the market situation right now - between rising costs and bidding wars, it feels like owning a home is just a dream. I see the sinking feeling every day, and it has got me thinking: how can we make affordable housing a reality for more people? We need creative solutions like: 1) Thinking outside the box: Tiny homes, co-living spaces, and micro-apartments could be game-changers for urban living. Get innovative with space utilization. 2) Building community: Partnering with local governments and builders to develop affordable housing projects is a great way. We need to build more homes, not just luxury condos. 3) Empowering buyers: Education and financial literacy are crucial. Equipping first-time buyers with the knowledge and tools to navigate the market is like giving them a map of their dream home. It is all about building a future where everyone has a safe and secure place to call their own. #AffordableHousing #RealEstateMarket #CreativeSolutions

The announcement that NYC made a few days ago was HUGE! More municipalities need to make "impact" decisions when it comes to code, zoning and usage. Cities and states with budgets that allow should look at offering financial incentives to developers to build in areas that get overlooked but have strong demand as well. #housingmarket #development #demand #residentialrealestate #homebuilding #homeownership #americandream #innovation #cut #redtape

Big changes ahead in Austin's housing landscape! The City Council passed phase one of the HOME initiative, signaling a major shift in housing options for single-family lots. This move aims to address our city's evolving housing needs in a fast-growing metro area. The discussions around HOME sparked debates on density and displacement, leaving many split on potential outcomes. With phase one allowing up to three housing units and easing tiny home construction, it's a pivotal step forward. Stay tuned as phase two promises more starter homes for the younger generation. The impact of these changes on affordability remains debated, but the city's focus on housing solutions continues to evolve.
