DSB completes the first public tender of a corporate PPA in Denmark. Jeppe Lefevre Olsen and Christopher Dalgas have advised DSB in connection with the power purchase agreement (PPA). The PPA was the first publicly tendered PPA in Denmark and was awarded to the Danish developer, European Energy. Under the PPA, DSB will offtake 80 GWh annually which will expectedly cover 29% of the electricity consumed by DSB's train network and corresponds to approximately 50% of the electricity consumption of the S-train network. 📈 Germany is one of the most important electricity markets in Europe. According to a new market analysis, this now also applies to direct marketing via long-term supply contracts, so-called Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). This relatively new segment of the electricity market has grown rapidly, especially in the last two years: https://lnkd.in/eH6qhgTk #ppa #marketanalysis #germany #energy #europa #powerpurchaseagreement

Who can participate in Energy Wheeling? 👩💻👨🏭🏗 All customers have access to the grid for the delivery or export of electricity thanks to the Electricity Regulation Act and the Transmission Grid Code and Distribution Network Code of NERSA. However, third-party wheeling of electricity is limited to buyers connected on medium-voltage or higher-voltage networks and on a time-of-use tariff. Generators must be licensed or registered to generate and supply electricity, and the government has raised the threshold for private self- or distributed generation power plants. Generators must apply to Eskom for grid connection, pay for a cost estimate letter, and sign an amendment agreement to their Electricity Supply Agreement. Buyers can be another Eskom customer, a municipality, or a customer within a municipal network.

💥 POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENT CONTRACTS IN THE EU ENERGY MARKET A #PowerPurchaseAgreement (#PPA) often refers to a long-term #electricitysupplyagreement between two parties, usually between a power producer and a customer (an electricity consumer or trader). The PPA defines the conditions of the agreement, such as the amount of electricity to be supplied, negotiated prices, accounting, and penalties for non-compliance. Depending on regulation and the #marketenvironment, different situations can arise in which PPAs are an advantageous form of financing or a stabilizing factor in long-term power delivery. On 23 May 2024, it was announced that the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (#ACER) will launch a consultation on the introduction of #voluntarytemplates for #PPAcontracts in the #EUEnergyMarket, on 20 June 2024. Energy Monday. Disaggregation of Power Distribution under the Electricity Act 2023. Boon Or Bane? The Electricity Act (E.A) 2023 has ushered in a new era of energy efficiency and transparency through the provisions for the disaggregation of electricity distribution in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI). The repealed power sector regulatory regime in granting licenses merged operations for electricity distribution and electricity supply. However, under the E.A 2023 the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)has been mandated at a time it deems appropriate to disaggregate electricity distribution operations and recognize the supply of electricity as a separate operation distinct from electricity distribution operations. Upon completion of this directive under the NESI, separate licenses will be issued for both, and distribution licensees will cease to function as distribution and supply licensees but only as distribution licensees. These provisions are poised to boost investments in the Nigerian electricity sector through the integration of new entrants, including private individuals, public entities, and individual States of the Federation, who are now granted the authority to procure, generate and distribute power within their respective regions. Do you think the disaggregation of power distribution as provided by the E.A 2023 would cushion the burden on distribution companies (DisCos) and ensure the efficiency and transparency of electricity distribution under the new regulatory regime ? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comment section.
