“As I’ve learned from my ongoing dialogue with enterprises, these new systems will be disruptive. Learning and development leaders find themselves having to work through questions like, “If we give an employee a highly intelligent system that recommends actions and possibly answers almost any question on the topic, what is the role of traditional training?” Chief human resources officers need to ask, “How do older systems stay relevant?” And across organizations, everyone will need to consider whether the AI-provided answer is correct.” Really thought provoking article. The implications are enormous. The question about the role of traditional training intrigued me. How do you see your development organizations adapting? “The ability to develop strategy is integral to an executive’s success” — and the same applies to talent acquisition. Working in executive search, strategy has always been my achilles heel - trying to convince an HR leader who needs to fill an important position why it matters and how we will get there. The “get it done”/“this is how we’ve always done it” approach rarely delivers the right results. Maybe in an employer-driven job market like this one… But the market will recalibrate soon enough. Always does. This HBR article offers some good advice on how company leaders can stay “strategically fit” in a rapidly-changing marketplace. While I don’t lead anyone except my dog, I do work hard at staying strategic. There is a lot out there to learn right now. I started small, signing up for Co Pilot HR webinars. And I recently discovered numerous.ai. It’s a ChatGPT plug-in for Excel and Sheets data entry. I must’ve watched the how-to video 10 times, but I now understand its functionality. I have to keep practicing. All of the new (er) AI tools are subscription + offer free trials. ChatGPT and Perplexity (my favorite) are especially helpful for preparing (research) for job interviews with senior leaders to better understand their business and industry challenges. #strategy #keeplearning #AI #staycurious
