Fostering diversity in leadership roles is crucial for shaping an educational system that embraces inclusivity and representation. This not only enhances organizational effectiveness but also propels societal progress. Recognizing and nurturing the leadership skills of all, regardless of gender, plays a vital role in breaking down barriers and creating a more inclusive and dynamic leadership environment.

In a shifting political landscape, the traditional belief that "children are the leaders of tomorrow" is being challenged. A growing number of elderly leaders are holding onto power, sidelining the younger generation from governance. This trend raises concerns about intergenerational fairness and stifling young voices. While experience is valued, excluding youth from leadership denies them the chance to learn and innovate. History shows that young leaders can drive change, yet investing in their potential is crucial. To ensure a balanced and inclusive future, societies must find a way to merge the wisdom of age with the energy of youth.

With increased polarization on DEI, it's important to remember that anti-DEI advocates are confusing one time, unintentional DEI training with long-term consistent efforts. In my work, I have found when training is tied to a strategy and measured over time, it is more effective. Effective DEI programs start with asking the question "what problem are we trying to solve?" and know how DEI will help the organization be more successful. Without a strong why for DEI, the one and done, unintentional approaches will continue to reinforce a false narrative that DEI doesn't work. #diversityandinclusion #leadership #allyship
