CEO | COO | Fractional C-Level | Transformative Leader | Growth Strategies | Retail | Consumer Goods | Turnarounds
To turnaround a business that is struggling is not an easy task. As someone who's been immersed in the trenches of such transformations, I have found it too easy for new management to point fingers and lay blame at the feet of prior managements. I've come to realize that the path to success lies not in casting judgment, but in understanding. Instead of hastily labeling all previous decisions as "bad" or dismissing leadership as incompetent, it's crucial to take a step back and delve into the why behind those choices. What were the circumstances? What constraints were at play – whether financial, resource-related, or skill-based? By actively listening, learning, and empathizing with past decisions, we gain invaluable insights into the context that shaped them. Remember, the company had success prior and understanding what made the brand successful will help shape future decisions. This approach doesn't absolve prior management of accountability, but it does pave the way for a more constructive way forward. Rather than dwelling on the past, our focus shifts to crafting solutions rooted in a deeper understanding of the challenges at hand. It's about leveraging lessons learned to inform strategic pivots, and rallying teams around a shared vision of progress. In the realm of turnarounds, success hinges on our ability to adapt, innovate, and collaborate towards a brighter future. By embracing a mindset of listening, learning, and forward momentum, we not only set the stage for transformation – we empower ourselves to thrive in the face of adversity. What do you think? #TurnaroundStrategies #LeadershipMindset #MovingForward

A quest for what is possible! Create a Strategy to impact your world! Dramatically improve performance and results in your business. No hype, just effective solutions. Map out a holistic way to achieve the impossible.
Non-traditional and non-conventional strategy formulation is key to your future success, whether you are a Fortune 500 corporation or a small business. Innovation and creativity are not an engineering formula where you provide the input, and your creative genius pops out an answer or solution. Creativity is not logical. In fact, it is often very illogical. That is why most “business” trained professionals have a hard time grabbing a hold of these innovative concepts that I bring to a holistic approach to problem-solving. It is divergent thinking, lateral thinking, and yes strategic thinking. Some companies evolved creatively over decades, (ie. Microsoft and Apple) while others launched their business with innovation. Think of Fred Smith and FedEx. He had to have the whole creative recipe BEFORE he launched. Companies like Uber and Southwest Airlines started with creative non-conventional models and then added a whole bunch of innovation. Concepts like “Strategic Intent”, “Transient Competitive Advantage”, “Innovation Strategy”, and the “Kernel of Strategy” are much more non-conventional and non-traditional. Many executives and strategists haven’t grabbed a hold of these concepts yet because it takes them out of their normal thinking patterns. That means there are tremendous opportunities for those that, embrace the future and change with creativity and innovation. Leadership Mapping is bringing innovation and creativity to business strategy, planning, and implementation because change is faster than ever before and we have to adapt and be much more flexible. Our "Strategic Solutions Workshop -- Turning Challenges into Opportunities" addresses how to use creativity and innovation in your business for success. Whether you are a large company or a small business, your future is with innovation. #innovation #Creativity #Strategy #Leadership Mapping #challenges #Opportunities #solutions #FedEx #Strategic Intent #Transient Advantage #Innovation Strategy

3moNice post, Kristen + nice "Strategy Now" article. I do hope, however, you + Monitor Deloitte still believe in "the traditional ways of developing strategy" (aka: Porter' 5 forces) - just maybe do it a lot faster and maybe leverage new tech. Do you agree?
