I wrote an opinion piece for The Hill this week on a recent controversial move from the Biden Administration that impacts many small business owners. If you're familiar with franchising, you're probably familiar with Obama's joint employer rule. It was detrimental to the franchise model of small business, resulting in 376,000 jobs lost. Biden's NLRB wants to put that joint employer rule back in place. With strong bipartisan majorities in both the House and the Senate (an unheard-of accomplishment these days), Congress overturned this rule. Biden vetoed it. I know firsthand what franchise owners are going to experience once this rule goes back into effect, because I was in your shoes the last time around. Franchise owners are going to effectively become middle managers rather than independent owner-operators. Jobs will be lost. Communities will suffer. It's baffling that President Biden would veto something with such strong bipartisan support, a veto that the entire small business community opposes. Read more of my thoughts here in The Hill:
Small business owners are the backbone of this country. Not sure why this Administration does not understand that and support them. Keep up the good fight and thank you for everything that you do for Oklahoma.
Track the donations to the two erstwhile candidates and see the number and amounts of the donations received to help you answer why the Biden admin vetoed a truly bi-partisan bill.
Well put Kevin and thanks for putting light on this issue of wrongful placement of power by the potus when congress was able to join together for a direction that benefited small business.
THANKS FOR KEEPING AN EYE OUT FOR US .....WE APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORTS TO KEEP THE PLAYING FIELD EVEN.......
Thanks Congressman Hern..we will need your continued support for small businesses now more than ever.
Kevin Hern honored to stand behind you and support your efforts to educate those that are not educated on the franchise business model !
Please read and share.
Kevin. Thanks for your support of us franchises. Like you it gave me and my family an opportunity to succeed where I don’t believe it would have been possible for us to be where we are today with 21 locations in southern Illinois with over 1300 employees.
Biden Baffles! There must be a list of those things somewhere.

1moI can’t understand why, but many of his policies are against the American worker. It’s hard to fathom why he would veto something like this. Hopefully we get change in November because we can’t sustain much more of this.
