Hundreds of millions of people can recognize a Coke bottle by its shape, even if they cannot see it! Misconception: Coca-Cola’ logo is red because the color red tends to encourage appetite according to color psychology. Coca Cola logo is red because of tax reasons. Right after its inception, Coca-Cola started being sold in barrels at all American stores. But there was a slight problem. In the 19th century, alcoholic drinks were taxed very heavily so Coca-Cola used to paint their barrels red to distinguish the drink from the alcoholic drinks. Later, Coca-Cola adopted red as the official colour and has stuck with it to date. Have you come across any such stories? Please let us know in the comments #marketing #sanzan #brandingthing

I spent this past weekend in Atlanta. I'm not a huge soda drinker but one of the highlights of the trip included a visit to The World of Coke. Here are 10 things I learned about Coca-Cola that blew my mind. 🤯 1/ Asa Candler purchased the rights and formula for Coca-Cola from John Pemberton in 1887 for $2,300. 2/ Coca-Cola invented the 6-pack. 3/ Asa Candler sold the bottling rights to Coke for $1. 4/ The Coke recipe is kept secret in a vault (pictured below). 5/ In 1985 Coke changed its recipe and launched New Coke. It lasted 79 days. 6/ Coke was the first soda in space. 7/ Coca-Cola essentially invented the Santa Clause we know and love today. 8/ Coke owns 500+ different brands. 9/ The average American drinks a Coke product every 4 days. 10/ There are only two countries in the world where Coca-Cola is not sold: Cuba and North Korea.

Did you know that Coca Cola tried to change their recipe in 1985, which was an event famously known as "New Coke"? I heard about this last weekend and did some more research and found some interesting facts about this. Some Interesting Facts About the change to "New Coke" 1) The public backlash was real - This change brought overwhelming public disapproval, to the point that there was actually protests and campaigns for the company to bring back it's original formula. 2) The company reportedly received approximately 400,000 calls and letters from consumers who were upset about this change. The company set-up a hotline that received about 1,500 calls a day, almost 4X the amount of calls received on a regular day. 3) "New Coke" ads onscreen at the Houston Astrodome were booed by the fans. 4) Customers started hoarding original Coke and selling them for obscene prices. 5) This was rolled back quickly - After about 79 days, the new formula was pulled and the previous recipe was re-introduced as "Coca Cola Classic". #Coke #NewCoke

Did you know the biggest product failure ever was from one of the world's most successful companies? In 1985, Coca-Cola introduced a new formula for its iconic cola, aptly named 'New Coke.' However, the company underestimated the public's emotional attachment to the original 'Real Thing.' Despite the significant investment in market research, the consumer backlash was unforeseen and massive. Within three months, Coca-Cola was forced to bring back the original formula under the name 'Coca-Cola Classic.' The fiasco cost the company an estimated $4 million, not to mention the hit to their reputation! Although it was deemed a colossal flop, we cannot ignore the fact that it boosted Coca-Cola's sales when they reintroduced the original formula! A salient reminder that understanding consumer emotion can be just as, if not more important than pure logic and market research. Sometimes, the secret to innovation lies in preserving the past while building the future. #businesshistory #innovationfailures #marketresearch #consumeremotion #cocacola #emotionalintelligence

For an amazing 70 years (from 1886 to 1959),Coca-Cola kept the price of a bottle of Coke (6.5 US fl. oz.) constant at 5 cents (nickel). By the 1950s they finally needed to raise the price. By then,a lot of Coca Cola was dispensed via their vending machines which were built to take a single coin: a nickel. They didn't want to double it to a dime (10 cents) - it would be too expensive. They also did not want to make it 6 or 7 cents as that would make people look for change - 1 or 2 cent coins (pennies) - in addition to the nickel. What “genius” solution did Coca Cola executives come up with to solve this issue, for which Coca Cola lobbied President Eisenhower and Congress?

Last week, #solutionmakers toured Coca-Cola Consolidated's Charlotte campus to learn more about how they package and operationally support #beveragemanufacturing. When asked about the importance of partnering with a reliable #OEM supplier, Elroy McDonald Logistics Manager of the Black Satchel Warehouse on-site said, "If a bottle is over the standard 20 ounces, that's a loss for us. And at 20,000 bottles a day, that's a big loss for us."
