Why skim through the documentation for 5 minutes, when you can spend 3 hours debugging a tiny issue instead? 🤦♂️💻 I just spent a couple of hours fixing a blocking issue. Implementation-wise, no errors and the code looked perfect. But it wasn't working as expected because some properties were deprecated after the upgrade. P.S. Always read the documentation, folks. It saves time and sanity. #Debugging #CodingLife #TechStruggles #SoftwareEngineering #DeveloperProblems #ReadTheDocs #ProgrammingHumor #TechTips #10xEngineer #DevCommunity

#GoodCode vs #CleanCode "Clean" is an artistic claim. #MVC #OOP and that about takes care of it. There's a reason my framework is called QuickDRY. It makes it very easy to write and expand a codebase and it's based on the idea of Don't Repeat Yourself. Being able to quickly debug code and focus on business logic are key. You know code is bad code when it gets in the way of future you down the road. If you keep saying "I have to fix this before I can do that" the code is bad. Good code assists you going forward. "Because I did this, now I can do that." Good code plants trees. Bad code is a dumpster fire.

I recently read a Substack post by Phil V. on improving systems, and how a complex system like a car van be improved by improving its parts (subscribe here: https://lnkd.in/ea2PR4Tq). He's right, and it applies to software as well. We can take an existing application and make changes to improve its performance, security, maintainability,... These don't have to be big earth-shattering changes. Just like a better set of tires can improve the performance of the whole car, a small change somewhere in our code can have a positive impact on our application. Our applications are complex systems but up from many smaller components. Don't hesitate to improve the smaller components even if it may seem irrelevant. #legacycode #softwaredevelopment #refactoring #technicaldebt

Today was all about exploring different methods for solving the classic odd-even problem. I delved into six different approaches, including using the modulo operator, bitwise operations, and recursion. Each method has its own advantages and can be more suitable depending on the specific context of the problem. It's always beneficial to explore different methods for solving a problem, especially when it comes to something as fundamental as checking if a number is even or odd. I believe the choice of method depends on the specific requirements of the problem and the context in which it is being solved. #100DaysOfCode #CodingCommunity #ProgrammingLogic

As a newer learner of all-things engineering, I've found Justin Gage's Technically as SUPER useful resource for building my vocab. So much so that at Game Developers Conference (sorry for the addl tag), someone asked me "So I guess you've got a technical background." I certainly can't give all credit to Justin (the Hathora team does a great boot-camp!), but I would happily gift folks who want to learn about all-things technical in Technically as subscription. Please DM me and I'll send you a link! (I've only got 5) https://technically.dev/
