Thrilled to have met Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP of SHRM, at #SHRM24. Johnny's insights on navigating the 'polycrisis' facing our workplaces today—ranging from AI advancementsand unpredictable disruptions—were truly enlightening. He reminded us that our mission as HR professionals is to face these inevitable challenges with boldness and vision. By doing so, we can protect our organizations, empower our workforce, and elevate the HR profession. It was wonderful to share this inspiring moment alongside my leader La Nise Hagan, SHRM-CP, and with Shamika Spence, MA #OneTen

Thank you to Sharn Kleiss, Jennifer du Toit, and Ed Barry for an incredibly insightful Gallagher webinar today. There was much to unpack from all of the data presented and an infinite number of nuggets to pick out regarding #effectivecommunication in #humanresources. Deep dive is an understatement of what these colleagues shared. Some low-hanging fruit from today regarding #HR communications: The bigger your deskless workforce, the greater the challenge is to reach them effectively. More than 90% of employees want annual performance reviews done by their boss and in-person, or live on the phone or PC -- even if AI is used to gather data and formulate evaluations.

As we reflect on Day 2 of the conference, it is apparent that HR Executives are battling economic headwinds, hence must think like CFOs. It is not a contradiction that those HR Leaders are at the same time open to innovate big time with AI in HR, diversifying the talent pool, wellbeing, and addressing underperformance early #GartnerHR #hrcommunity #hrinnovation

At the risk of being sensational, I'm sharing survey data that possibly speaks volumes. 90% of employers see the benefit of skills-first hiring. 15% of employers actively engage in skills-first hiring. 75% of employers haven't adopted skills-first hiring because: 🔹Uncertainties about whether the effort will be successful. (fair) 🔻Lack of trust and knowledge among HR Pros and executives. 🔻The absence of standard operating procedures in the field. Considering, today, I read an article about succession planning challenges and another about AI adoption critical thinking challenges, this third article is concerning. All three topics cited similar barriers to entry: lack of trust and lack of procedures. I welcome any thoughts on this topic. I'm a bit stunned. #employeeengagement #skills-firsthiring #successionplanning #GenAI
