If you are not aware just how much innovation is occurring in Africa maybe it’s time you took a very long and hard look. Africa is rapidly transforming, not because of any capitalist imperatives but because of need. Because of that crucible based driver alone Africa will eventually become a powerhouse. Some people have a tendency based on recent history to not take Africa seriously, those people are very misguided. Innovation like this, driven by need is transformational and just like the top of an iceberg visible in the ocean represents a much larger, largely unseen mass of change.

Innovative solutions to longstanding needs are the most disruptive because they make life better altogether.
Love seeing these sort of innovations bringing much needed solutions to generalized problems/challenges based on a clear understanding of local needs.

Sugar cane-derived bioethanol for cooking and heat-reflected from the Sun to do your cooking. These renewable sources would do great in rural settlements or in survival zones.
Would be good to see these in South East Asia
The impact it can create in rural parts of India would be huge . Imagine if the young change makers get a nudge in this direction then we can have many projects that benefit the whole world as well as the citizens of our country .

Paris Summit raises billions to improve clean cooking access in Africa
International Energy Agency (IEA)-partnered event mobilises $2.2 billion in pledges from governments and private sector to address deadly inequality
The first high-level summit dedicated to improving access to clean cooking solutions in Africa concluded in Paris two week ago with a major breakthrough in financial commitments to address a persistent and deep-seated inequality.
The Summit on Clean Cooking in Africa, co-chaired by the leaders of Tanzania and Norway, the heads of the IEA and the African Development Bank Group, and hosted by the French government, saw $2.2 billion in pledges from governments and the private sector. Close to 60 countries participated in the event, with more than 1,000 delegates attending.
“The Summit marked the first time that such a large amount has been dedicated to clean cooking access at a single gathering, with the potential to make 2024 a turning point on an issue that has long been overlooked,” said IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol. “The pledges made in Paris come on top of other recent commitments, and our Agency will continue to make clean cooking a priority and work to both track progress on the pledges and marshal additional resources to build further momentum.”
Lack of access to clean cooking solutions affects more than 2 billion people worldwide, with many of them located in sub-Saharan Africa. Cooking with charcoal, wood, agricultural waste and animal dung, which produces toxic fumes, is the second leading cause of premature death in the region, with women and children accounting for most of the lives lost. The lack of clean cooking access also limits opportunities for education, employment and independence as women spend hours each day collecting materials for fuel.
The Summit on Clean Cooking in Africa was co-hosted by the IEA, the African Development Bank, France, Norway and Tanzania, and took place against the backdrop of the Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) forum.
French President Emmanuel Macron hosted a special session for heads of state and other leaders at the Elysée Palace, including the Presidents of Sierra Leone and Togo, the Executive Vice President of the European Commission, and the Director-General of the World Health Organization.
More than 100 countries, international institutions, companies and civil society organisations endorsed The Clean Cooking Declaration at the Summit, pledging to make the issue a priority and enhancing efforts toward achieving universal access for all.

Here is another way an electric pressure cooker can save you time and money.
In this demo three cooking fuels are compared: gas, charcoal and electric pressure cooker. The same quantity of beans was used.
For the pressure cooker beans were fried first before boiling. (Yes it can be done and they are so tasty!)
