We are so excited and proud that our Co-Founder and CEO Brooke Boyarsky Pratt was featured in Forbes' article on 6 Trailblazing Female Founders In Women’s Healthcare!
“As someone who has battled obesity throughout my entire life, I have the unique lived experience of trying to find a doctor willing to treat me as a whole person instead of a number on the scale,” Brooke said. “My earliest experiences of the doctor’s office are plagued with stigmatizing memories. I would avoid going. The research suggests my experience is all too common.”
Thanks so much for all you do for knownwell and our patients Brooke!!

Before I started working for Hello Heart, the toll that heart disease takes on women didn’t dawn on me.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for all Americans, including women, and women are 2X more likely to die from a heart attack than men.
Why? Women who go to the hospital with heart attack symptoms are 53% more likely to be sent home, often misdiagnosed with a mental health condition. Since joining Hello Heart, I’ve heard several women’s personal stories of medical gaslighting and dismissal.
We need to take better care of women’s hearts.
That's why I signed the Women's Heart Health Pledge. The pledge is a call to action, demanding education and reform in the healthcare industry. Maayan Cohen, Arianna Huffington, Nasrien E. Ibrahim MD, MPH, and many more have also signed.
Please join me in supporting this important cause by signing the pledge: womenforhearthealth.org. Together we can close the gender gap in healthcare.

My main takeaway from this study: convenience drives compliance. Scheduling a mammogram along with an annual exam is easier for busy women. This is why we do what we do at Onsite Women's Health.
🔍✨What is Medical Misogyny?
Medical misogyny refers to the systemic bias and discrimination faced by women, particularly women of color, within the healthcare system. It involves dismissing or downplaying their medical concerns, attributing symptoms to emotional factors, or disregarding their pain altogether. This unjust treatment not only undermines women’s health but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes.
🩺❤️🩹It is necessary to acknowledge and confront medical misogyny to create a healthcare system that serves ALL individuals equally. Women, especially those from minority communities, deserve to be heard, respected, and given the same level of care as anyone else.
☝🏾As we observe Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s come together to support and empower women who have experienced medical misogyny. Share your stories, your experiences, and your knowledge to raise awareness and create a community of strength and healing.
👉🏾Take Action:
1️⃣ Educate Yourself: Learn about medical misogyny and its impact on women’s health to be better informed.
2️⃣ Speak Up: If you witness or experience medical misogyny, don’t be afraid to speak out and advocate for change.
3️⃣ Support One Another: Listen to and support women who have faced discrimination in the healthcare system.
4️⃣ Demand Change: Engage with policymakers and healthcare providers to push for reforms and equality in medical care.
🤝Together, we can make a difference and dismantle the barriers that stand in the way of equitable healthcare for all women. Let’s ensure that every voice is heard, valued, and respected.

Let’s take better care of women’s hearts.
I am honored to stand with a coalition of women leaders and allies to launch the Women's Heart Health Pledge. [use tag function] Maayan Cohen, Arianna Huffington, Nasrien Ibrahim, MD, MPH and many more.
Together we are creating initiatives to close the gender gap in healthcare.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for all Americans but women still face unequal care.
Women wait 29% longer in emergency rooms than men.
Women who go to the hospital with heart attack symptoms are *53%* more likely to be sent home, misdiagnosed with a mental health condition.
Doctors have historically studied men’s bodies rather than the unique symptoms of women.
A little inequality adds up: In 2022, Women died from heart attacks at
twice the rate of men.
It’s time to change.
The pledge is a call to action, demanding education and reform in the healthcare industry. Please join me in supporting this important cause by signing the pledge.
I’ve signed on for a better future and I hope you will too.

In early May, Women As One joined key partners Medtronic and WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease on Capitol Hill to advocate for improved cardiac health in women.
Here are 4 key takeaways from Women As One’s Erika Squeri.
1⃣ Messaging matters. The issues that get discussed the most tend to be the ones that get addressed.
2⃣ Heart health affects everyone. We were struck by the number of people we met with who had personal stories of losing women in their lives to heart disease.
3⃣ Representation matters. We had rich discussions about the lack of female representation in cardiology and its negative effects on patient outcomes.
4⃣ Action must happen now. Everyone we met with agreed women’s health advancement can no longer wait.
We’re energized by our time in on the Hill. Read the full article below ❣️

It's the first day of Women's Health Week and that got us thinking about an American Medical Association survey of US physicians in 2022 which found 57% of female physicians reported at least one symptom of burnout.
As we kick off Women's Health Week, we want to remind everyone, especially women who are physicians, to put their health first.

We're excited to welcome award-winning oncologist Elizabeth Comen, M.D. to our roster. Dr. Comen has dedicated her career to ensuring women are no longer treated like an afterthought by the medical community. We've made progress since the 19th century when "hysteria" was the predominant diagnosis for anything ailing a woman, but it wasn't until 1993 that women were required to be included in clinical trials. And women today still receive delayed or inaccurate diagnoses because doctors dismiss their concerns or are unaware of how symptoms present in women.
Dr. Comen's work is a call-to-action to destroy the outdated notion of women's health as "bikini medicine" and to recognize that women deserve dedicated research and care for all aspects of their health. Women are not strange deviations of a "male default" and treating them as such leads to life-threatening consequences.
If you are interested in improving care for 51% of the population, you need to change the way you think about women's health. Dr. Comen can help you get there. https://hubs.la/Q02w943V0#SpeakersOfSubstance#KeynoteSpeakers#Healthcare#HealthcareSpeaker#WomensHealth#HealthEquity#SpeakersBureau#EventProfs
Pelvic Organ Prolapse Awareness Month is just around the bend. Patients, practitioners, industry, please BANG the DRUM long and loud next month!
APOPS established #POPAwarenessMonth in 2014 via Joint Resolution 71 with introductory efforts of Senators Lazich and Taylor, and cosponsored by Representatives Endsley, Skowronski, and Johnson. I remain so thankful for their engagement.
If 1 in 2 women prevalence isn't enough to lift the veil on this common, cryptic women's health issue, I don't know what is.
Here's a link to some tools to aid process. Keep it simple, every event matters!

Understanding and addressing the unique healthcare needs of women who live with pain is a fundamental aspect of our work. Recognizing the existence of blind spots in current medical practices, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions like Lipedema, underscores the importance of informed, compassionate care. We are dedicated to shedding light on these challenges and supporting women who face them.
