Employers are on a continuous learning journey to understand the implications of gen AI across work, organizations, performance, and productivity. On a macro level, businesses are also trying to understand what new technologies mean for the broader economy and acute labor challenges, including a global skills shortage that Neil Irwin digs into with his latest piece in Axios. While the skills required for every job are likely to change over the next decade (if not daily and weekly!), I am excited by the potential of tools like gen AI to help upskill workers and develop tailored learning and development journeys based on employees’ current capabilities. I’d love to hear your thoughts about the potential of technology for the People function, and how approaches to talent management might change in the coming years. #PeopleFirst

Generative AI holds the promise of elevating US labor productivity. Automation across various sectors could propel US productivity growth to 3 to 4 percent annually in a moderate adoption scenario. Achieving this necessitates the active involvement of stakeholders, participants, and workers, embracing the integration of AI into their workflows. This shift demands workers to acquire new skills, ensuring continued employability within an AI-incorporated economy. While millions of jobs may face elimination, the advent of new roles demanding fresh skills could potentially surpass these losses. For a comprehensive list of emerging jobs across diverse sectors, feel free to reach out to us at contact@capitalgrowthexperts.com. #labormarket #laborlaw #employment #strategicadvisory #strategicplanning #pricingstrategy #pricingoptimization #workforce #workforcedevelopment #smallbusiness #smallbiz

As the integration of AI continues to shape our world, the workforce landscape is undergoing a significant transformation. The latest American Staffing Association survey sheds light on the perceptions surrounding this technological shift. A staggering 74% of American adults express concerns about the potential impact of AI on employment, fearing a surge in unemployment. With innovations like ChatGPT and other generative AI tools on the rise, millions are witnessing the ways automation can streamline daily tasks, especially in the professional sphere. However, alongside the excitement, there is apprehension that further automation advancements might reshape or even jeopardize future job opportunities. The survey reveals that 74% of Americans believe increased automation could displace human workers and contribute to higher joblessness. Interestingly, the sentiment varies across sectors, with employees in the industrial (56%), engineering / IT / scientific (51%), and office clerical / administrative (48%) fields expressing the most concern. This contrasts sharply with a 2017 ASA survey where 73% of employed Americans felt their roles were unlikely to be replaceable by robots or AI. The workforce stands divided on whether increased automation will ultimately benefit or disrupt their careers. 27% believe AI will support their professional growth, while 26% anticipate it causing disruptions. Richard Wahlquist, CEO of the American Staffing Association, emphasizes that organizations bear a critical role in helping their workforce adapt to the evolving economy through training and upskilling. https://lnkd.in/gRtpaUdv
