Vice President, Policy at Community Care Cooperative (C3)

Heading home from three fabulous days with the The Aspen Institute and the Sunflower Foundation for the Midwest Food is Medicine Summit. What an inspiring series of presentations and discussions about the implementation, research and policy considerations of programs, partnerships and interventions to improve food and nutrition security, especially in Rural and Native communities. Too many highlights to count, but it was an honor to share learnings from our Community Care Cooperative (C3) Flexible Services program, discuss the roles of food banks and safety net providers alongside FQHC colleagues from Kansas and friends Melanie McGuire from Houston Food Bank and Amy Lazarus Yaroch from Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition Kudos to Kofi Essel, MD, MPH, FAAP and Christopher Long and so many others for great presentations and moving this work forward for all of us. And if you find yourself in Topeka, head to Burning Barrel for a delicious local farm dinner in a beautiful setting!
