Did you miss the Writers Conference? No worries - the lectures were recorded, and are now available at a reduced rate Whether you are writing fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, op-eds, for industry, for media, you’ll find something that meets your needs. I know, this seems like it’s just another pitch, but I learned so much. The speakers did a great job and focused on providing tangible guidance, whatever your writing needs may be https://lnkd.in/ebKvmFuK

What is going on at universities around the country - including my alma mater - isn't "peaceful." It's antisemitism, pure and simple. It's hate. It's calls for the death of Zionists and the destruction of Israel. I'm ashamed to say this is going on at my undergrad alma mater, Cornell University. Cornell, like all universities, is responsible for educating its students - for disproving rumors and untruths, and helping students distinguish truth from lies. The university has failed at this, its primary duty.

Looking forward to listening to the latest from Dana Corriel, MD on the scintillating topic of noncompetes. What's with those noncompete clauses? My questions... Will the FTC ruling hold up? Is it an overreach?

When should you think about #celiacdisease? Stomach pain? Weight loss? Bloating? Growth restriction? How about all of these and more? I'm not the creator of this image, and it's only one of many out there (this comes from glutendude.app), but it's a good way to remember: Celiac is an autoimmune disease with head-to-toe effects

Thoughts on the noncompete rule from the FTC? I am off two minds: 1. It’s a policy overreach 2. I have been subject to ridiculous and unfair noncompetes, and it’s the right call I am not a fan of Lina Khan, and I don’t think regulatory agencies should be able to wield the power that they do (ie would like to see Chevron overturned) However, noncompete clauses can make it difficult to leave an intolerable work situation, and hard to find new work after you depart. One job had a pretty fair five mile radius of my last clinical site, but one had a fifty mile radius. As an employee of a huge healthcare corporation (which they all are now), you have no negotiating power with regard to the employment contract. I tried several times and each time was told this is it - take it or leave it Noncompetes ARE abused, and they DO restrict employment mobility. But I would prefer a finer approach via legislation https://lnkd.in/exTcbRDX

Chag Sameach! Pesach begins tomorrow at sundown. For many years, I've frantically bought gluten-free Passover food that I couldn't get the rest of the year. Recently, more of these "Passover" foods have been available year round. This article from Fox Business shows how market need can drive product changes https://lnkd.in/eGs2TtYE
Passover's dietary restrictions led to new market demographic for Jewish food company: gluten-free consumers

Check out this upcoming conference on starting a private practice!
👨👩👦👦 A physician I was speaking to today is too afraid to start her own practice because she thinks it will take away time with her family. As your own boss YOU get to decide what hours to work and how many patients to see, just as long as the math is math-ing. 💃🏽 For all those docs already in private practice - can you put some comments below on how your life compares now to when you were employed by a corporate hospital? Let's show 'em how great autonomy really is!! 💡 If you'd like to hear more about starting your own practice, I'd love to see you at the Private Practice 101 conference 5/31 - 6/2. I'll put the link to sign up in the comments. #somedocsPP2024 #medicalmatchmaker #privatepractice #physicianautonomy

Thank you Sheryl Williams for the great comment below! It went wonderfully. Dana Corriel, MD, Debra Blaine, MD and i may have planned it, but you truly don’t know what you’re going to get until you start. Our speakers were incredible, questions were great, and it was a fantastic experience

Just wrapped up an intense 3-day live virtual event - a writers conference for healthcare professionals that I built, with co-chairs Kim Liebowitz & Debra Blaine, MD. I’ll let a testimonial, just shared, speak for itself: “I wasn't exactly sure what I had signed up for this weekend. Perhaps advice about tightening up my prose, throw out the adverbs, show don't tell. Could not have been farther from the truth. This has been a fabulous conference ranging from Indie publishing information, to children's books, to writing non-fiction. And let’s not forget an excellent lecture on Narrative Medicine. The conference was run superbly, plenty of time to pose questions to the speakers and offers to connect after the lectures were done. I have been drinking from the proverbial fire hose this weekend, but also was given concrete actionable ideas. Now to put it to use!” — Dr. Sheryl Williams, internist #SoMeDocsWriters2024 #doctorsonsocialmedia #somedocs #writing
