Sustainability has to be a way of life to be a way of business. I am very impressed by the successful outcome of the Freezer Challenge organized by My Green Lab and The International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I2SL: International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories). The incredible amount of 20.7 million kWh of energy was saved by the participation of nearly 2.000 laboratories from 195 countries. Compared to last year, this is more than a doubling of CO2 savings. To give you a better idea, the amount of energy avoided is equivalent to 37.5 million miles driven by an average petrol car. This is a clear and distinct shift in the life science industry towards more sustainability. We at STARLAB place a high value on sustainability. For us as a laboratory product manufacturer, this result shows that we have to support laboratory practice with environmentally friendly products. Small changes like this have a big impact on a greener future in laboratories. Let’s join the movement towards a more sustainable lab and make a difference. https://lnkd.in/eW32UzYP

👁 🇪🇺 ᴛʜᴇ ᴄʟᴏsᴇᴄʏᴄʟᴇ ᴘʀᴏᴊᴇᴄᴛ : ᴛᴏᴡᴀʀᴅs ᴛᴇʀʀɪᴛᴏʀɪᴀʟ ʙɪᴏʀᴇғɪɴᴇʀʏ ɴᴇᴛᴡᴏʀᴋs 𝘾𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡e is an Interreg North Sea and Europe co-funded project (2024-2027) coordinated by Dr. Ina Körner KOERNER, Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH) and involves 18 partners, including the INRAE BIA (PRP, MC2, PVPP, ELIPS teams). The project aims to make more effective use of local residual bioresources through territorial biorefinery networks to create products for local markets. A transnational approach, based on global knowledge and regional cooperation, is being applied as these challenges transcend borders. In Closecycle, INRAE BIA will focus on the case study of cider production and the valorization of its by-products, from fruit or pruned wood to the various by-products of the process. As World Water Week 2023 unfolds, the glass packaging industry is continuing to look at how to improve water consumption to help address critical global water challenges and help our customers cut their own product footprint, in turn. Glass manufacturers such as SAVERGLASS, Ardagh Group, Vetropack Group, O-I and several others have already taken steps to improve water efficiency by: ♻️ Implementing water recirculation strategies 🌧️ Creating rainwater collection systems 🔄 Using air cooling methods instead of water to cool production processes 🚰 Adopting water-efficient equipment These are just a few examples of how the industry is taking steps towards responsible water management. Very insightful positional paper on packaging reuse in context of pan-European PPWR....all members of global production value chains can play pivotal roles in taking the lead when it comes to 3'R's for packaging - 1. Reduce use of packaging materials in their products, 2. Recycling packaging materials, and 3. Reusing packaging materials for similar or other use in the value stream. #sustainability #packagingsustainability #packagingreuse #PPWR
We recently signed Reloop's new position paper which highlights some key principles for maximising the opportunity to benefit from reuse in the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The paper "cites the PPWR in stating that 40% of all plastic and 50% of all paper consumption in the EU is attributable to packaging." Find out more via Packaging Europe: https://lnkd.in/e-wFhqJZ Or read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/ey4AScNX
