Being flexible is the name of the game in business, and in life. Our VP Jeff Dougherty welcomed baby #2 into the world YESTERDAY! Congrats Jeff & Haley!   Jeff is on the board of the Penn York Lumbermen’s association, and with his beautiful daughter arriving he will not be able to attend Monday’s meeting. Family comes first, as it should. This allows me the opportunity to go to the meeting in Jeff’s place. I’ll have the chance to speak with our clients, and visit some other clients in the area over the following 48 hours before heading to Boston to visit our team there.   Attending industry functions has been a mainstay of AGL. It’s a great place to not only connect, BUT a great place to get a pulse on the market. Are we going to see the typical summer slow down? Probably. How “slow” will it really be? Is there some frontloading going on due to the impending election? Is there enough supply or demand in the marketplace? A lot of these questions will be answered in a week, and I will have the luxury of relaying that information to our internal team.   When you get to see your clients over a decade's time span, they become more than clients, but more like friends, and in some instances, family.   A little flexibility goes a long way, and getting to meet some friends in the process is always fun.

Yesterday was my last day at Curtis Packaging. I cannot overstate the gratitude I feel for the trust and freedom I was given there by leadership to effectively modernize their data ecosystem and reporting infrastructure. This experience has been central to the development of not only my knowledge of data engineering principles and tools, but also my understanding of the practical challenges one will in the process of driving a company to become more data-centric.
