I came across this quote from Winston Churchill the other day: "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference". This struck me as particularly true when applied to the work of innovators and founders in the start-up world. If you don't have a positive attitude, you won't have the drive needed to sustain the hours (years?) of effort needed to make your venture a success. So, in some ways, attitude isn't a little thing. It's a big thing. And it can make all the difference.

On June 11, 2024, I had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion on "Sustainable Agriculture to Mitigate Climate Change" at the Conference of Montreal, during which I spoke about the potential for agriculture to become a net-zero sector by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and sequestering it in soils, all while supporting sustainable food production for a growing global population. The video of this panel is now available here: https://lnkd.in/gXxZKpTp

For those who pay attention to carbon policy and new developments in the voluntary carbon credit markets – yes, I know, just about everyone – the following policy statement from the Whitehouse hints at how quickly these concepts can go mainstream. There is plenty to applaud here, including the thinking behind the principles outlined for adoption, and the document highlights the importance of alignment between policies, markets, and emissions reduction and removal solutions. Net-zero by 2050? Sure thing. But it’ll take all of this plus much, much more. https://lnkd.in/gaAMf2h8

Carbon Lock Tech is raising! Our mission is to develop systems and approaches for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. We are currently focused on advancing and scaling up our patented technology, implementing our commercialization strategy, and negotiating our first carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credit agreement. We can demonstrate solid traction and strong potential to grow into a highly impactful carbon dioxide removal venture. For Manitoba-based investors, we offer a 45% tax credit under the SBVCTC program. To learn more about Carbon Lock Tech and this opportunity, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gY3zDBw3

Carbon Lock Tech’s mission has always been to develop and deploy solutions for accelerating the removal and sequestration of atmospheric carbon. There’s strong motivation behind this mission, and our focus on developing biomass-to-biochar conversion technologies is core to our plans to build an effective and highly-scalable carbon dioxide removal venture. New research is suggesting that we are on the right track. https://lnkd.in/gHPAz2hs

Thank you to our Carbon Lock Tech team for all their hard work in preparing for the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association's annual conference, trade show and Green Dragons Lair pitch competition. It was an honour to have been chosen as the Grand Prize Winner. Thanks to the MEIA for this excellent event, and to Sustainable Technology Development Canada and the Manitoba Technology Accelerator for supporting the pitch competition. Carbon Lock Tech is committed to helping Manitoba (and Canada) become a major player in the growing carbon economy.

Carbon removal is an idea whose time has come (or perhaps whose time should have come 20 years ago). This is an interesting and potentially important organization that just launched yesterday: https://carbonremoval.ca/
