Our next amazing spotlight is on Paige Parker, with Happenstance Whiskey, Nashville's only 100% women-owned whiskey company. In speaking about her company, Paige said, "I was seeking a more contemporary and premium whiskey experience and when I realized that didn't exist, I set out to create it on my own. Coming from the corporate world at Budweiser, I had an understanding of what the marketplace needed but there was no blueprint to follow in creating my company Happenstance; and only a handful of women in bourbon to look to. Ultimately, the challenge fueled my creativity and curiosity leading Happenstance to become the only 100% women-owned, founded and led bourbon company in Nashville. Pursue your goals with confidence and do not let a lack of role models in an industry limit you from being that role model for someone else." Her best piece of advice that she ever received: Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will - as an entrepreneur, you’re constantly overcoming fear and oftentimes there is no roadmap to follow for the path you’re on. The most successful entrepreneurs have learned that regret of not pursuing your dreams is worse than failure ever will be. Dov Charney's story with American Apparel is one of controversy, setbacks, and the pursuit of entrepreneurial ventures. Charney, the founder of American Apparel, faced turbulence in his role as CEO and ultimately was ousted from the company in 2014 due to alleged misconduct and financial issues. Undeterred by this setback, Charney remained resilient and determined to continue his influence in the fashion industry. In 2016, he founded Los Angeles Apparel, a new clothing company aimed at producing basics similar to American Apparel. This venture allowed Charney to leverage his experience and knowledge in the apparel business while starting anew. Charney's commitment to ethical manufacturing practices and "Made in America" principles continued with Los Angeles Apparel. The company focused on domestic production, emphasizing fair labor practices and sustainability in its operations. While facing legal challenges and controversies, Charney's return to the industry showcased his ability to rebuild and sustain a fashion brand. Los Angeles Apparel became a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit, proving that setbacks can be springboards for innovative and socially conscious business practices.
