As we celebrate Women and their myriad accomplishments, let’s not forget that women still earn on average $.84 to every dollar earned by a man. This hasn’t changed in almost two decades and the gap for women of color is even greater. The effect of this pay gap is seen in the disparity among retirement incomes and social security payments, and it is why more senior women live in poverty. Although women outnumber men with bachelor’s degrees and additional education, only 1 in 4 women make it to the C-suite. I don’t bring up these statistics to cause alarm or unravel any sensitivities, but to merely say that as far as we have come…we have a long way yet to go! Women bring innumerous strengths to the workplace like, resourcefulness, resilience, outside-of-the-box thinking, ingenuity and a host of others. Don’t forget to elevate others. It is the price you pay for your own success. #InternationalWomensDay #EquityWins
