The dedicated team at the Biomolecule Synthesis Laboratory (LSB / LNBio / CNPEM) is celebrating a significant milestone! We've recently completed the installation of a Liberty Blue 2.0 Automated Peptide Synthesizer, and their preliminary results are nothing short of remarkable. Since then, several synthesis tests have been carried out with excellent results. Their peptides have shown high yield and excellent degree of purity at ~ 80 to 95%. As a result, #LSB is now one of the few institutions in Brazil (and Latin America!) equipped for automated and optimized peptide synthesis and the only one equipped to synthesize #DNA, #RNA, and #Oligonucleotides. A huge congratulations to Thaíssa Engel and the entire team! Your dedication and expertise continue to push the boundaries of biomolecular research. The throughput of ion channel recordings increased to unprecedented levels with the use of #AutomatedPatchClamp. To make full use of such high-throughput #electrophysiology technology, academic labs have often pooled resources in a shared, core #APC facility. One of the earliest adopters of a core QPatch facility was The University of Queensland shared by the labs of Irina Vetter, Thomas Durek, Fernanda Cardoso & Glenn King. They have now published almost 50 #QPatch papers in the past decade and have been keeping the printing-presses busy in 2023 with a flurry of papers characterizing peptide #Toxins modulating sodium #IonChannels and the discovery of #TMEM233 – a new Nav1.7 accessory protein. These studies will provide further tool molecules and novel protein targets to understand and develop therapeutics for #ChronicPain.   Congratulations to all authors.
