"We need people who have good tenure in their previous job(s)" Almost every hiring manager I have ever spoken to has said something along these lines! So why is this so important? Well it costs a hell of a lot of money and time finding the right person to fill a role, long-tenured employees reduce these costs as they require less frequent recruitment and minimal training compared to new hires! It signals reliability, and trust, throw in a promotion or two and your starting to look very attractive! In software lots of domains such as finance, healthcare, and manufacturing require domain specific knowledge, you are not going to get this bouncing around from job to job every 12 months. Its crucial for project stability, when developers stay with a project for a significant period, they gain deep understanding and knowledge about the project's architecture, codebase, and requirements. This stability is beneficial for the project's overall success. What am I seeing 👀 Developers with strong tenure (3yrs+ at each company) are getting hired quicker and are getting the most interviews and best job opportunities! However I understand the last 4 years have been extremely turbulent within the tech industry. Been layed-off put it on your CV! Give yourself the best chance to get the interview!
