Upskilling while working a full time job and managing other obligations is hard. So why do it? Many friends are taking courses to upgrade themselves. They sacrifice their weekends and free time 3 key reasons why: - Learning new things help you get better at your job. When one gets better on the job, opportunities will open up. Even if the course today is not too relevant to your current role, it can help you open your mind to new possibilities. - Growing your network with positive people. Many who take the time to learn are generally forward looking and want to get better. When we keep on associating with the same group of people all the time, our thinking stagnates somewhat. - New environment and new energy. When we are in learning mode and engaging with different people, we leave our comfort zone. Being comfortable being uncomfortable is an essential skill for growth and personal development. I budget about 5-10 per cent of my annual salary for learning and development. Some friends invest more. What is your personal learning journey? Photo credit: Taken by me. For these flowers to bloom so beautifully, effort had to be taken for the right environment to bring out the blue shades. Learning and knowing new people who are looking to improve themselves are great sources of energy.

In addition to pursuing learning and development through standard channels, individuals can seek guidance from a coach or mentor to broaden their understanding and expand their knowledge horizons.
