I am now entering Part 2 of my #findyourwhy chapter. My primary goal is to assist patients, family members, and #caregivers in improving their healthcare #outcomes. I have learned a lot over the past ten years and have heard from many people globally who have experienced similar issues. Since I #published #notinvainapromisekept, I have received hundreds of messages from people who have gone through the same thing as me and my family. Losing my #Dad at the end of 2022 lit the fire again, and yes, they screwed up—big time.
Now comes the question of where to start and what I have to accomplish. If you know me, I am a huge #advocate for healthcare providers, especially #nurses, and a trauma surgeon saved my life!! In my #posts, you probably say, "holy sh*t, she thinks it's all bad," untrue. The system is broken, and yes, there are some bad players, but there is #hope and things YOU can do to help yourselves and your loved ones. You have to trust me.
We all know the #healthcare system is currently flawed. There ARE areas where it can be improved, and that can only happen with patient/caregiver #active and #proactive participation in their care AND #feedback. You have to close the loop when things go wrong. I have been writing since February after my dad died. It's not fun. It sucks, but some things need to go to the top. I'll share more in time.
We are currently facing a time when #inflation is high, patients may have lost their #insurance and #jobs, healthcare providers are leaving the #occupation, and those who remain are often overworked and burnt out. Although much work is needed, some things are beyond our control, such as debt, #pandemic hangover, #profit, bottom line, and #leadership (C Suite).
But you can do things that are not complicated that I can help you with, such as preparing for doctor appointments, cutting through red tape, dealing with #medicaldebt, understanding your #diagnosis and alternative options, etc.
If you or someone you care about has been a #victim of medical mistakes, medical #gaslighting, #errors, failure to adhere to the patient bill of rights, and #negligence, there are steps you can take to bring awareness to the issues, demand #accountability, (without an attorney) and help clinicians, hospitals, and groups improve. This will ultimately improve #patientoutcomes.
Below is a survey that contains 15 basic questions regarding your healthcare #experiences. This is the first survey, with many more to come, so I have chosen to #sample only those with healthcare #insurance as the first cut. If you have time, please complete the #survey attached below. I do not sell emails, and SurveyMonkey manages it.
Thank you for your participation in advance, as it will benefit both patients and clinicians in the long run. I will share the results with you. 🎯 #patientadvocacy
Go team go! 💜
