Endometriosis is a condition that can significantly impact a woman's life, and often goes undiagnosed for years. This course provided me with valuable insights to improve my ability to identify and manage this condition effectively. Here's what I gained from this experience: Enhanced awareness of endometriosis symptoms: I can now better recognize the signs and symptoms that might suggest endometriosis, allowing for earlier intervention. Strategic investigation techniques: The course equipped me with knowledge on the appropriate investigations to conduct when endometriosis is suspected. Treatment options roadmap: I'm now better informed about the various treatment options available for women with endometriosis, allowing me to create personalized treatment plans. Effective referral strategies: The course honed my skills in recognizing situations when referral to a specialist is necessary. Improved communication for patient well-being: I gained valuable communication skills to effectively advise women on what to expect from referrals and address fertility concerns. Long-term support for patients: This course equipped me with the knowledge to provide long-term support to women diagnosed with endometriosis. This course has been a significant step forward in my commitment to women's health. Be empowered… Health Panel Discussion Recent research from Endometriosis UK revealed that women in the UK face an average wait of almost nine years for endometriosis diagnosis. The report, which surveyed 4,371 women, also found that almost half of respondents had visited their GP 10 times or more, with symptoms, before receiving a diagnosis. We started our panel discussions to help empower patients with information that can help them manage their own health journey. We partner with specialists and health experts to offer real insights to ensure that patients can ask the right questions; and provide them with an opportunity to connect with the relevant experts and seek advice. As we enter the final week of March, our debut panel discussion featured Mr. Zaid Hasafa, a leading Gynaecologist and Endometriosis Specialist at New Victoria Hospital, alongside Mathilde Barker, a dancer and influencer in the endometriosis community. We sat down to tackle some of the myths and misconceptions surrounding endometriosis, shedding light on its prevalence, challenges, and pathways to advocacy.
