Last week's attendance of MISK Global Forum, by Misk Global, in Al Bujairi, Driyah, in Riyadh, marked a “BIG NOW” moment in my professional journey, reshaping my perspective on leadership & education. This forum was a vibrant showcase of visionary leadership, highlighting how innovative thinking can drive transformative change across sectors and communities. At the heart of the forum were the insightful discussions and interactions with Saudi leaders. Their powerful narratives and strategic insights revealed the art of navigating complexities in our ever-evolving world. This mostly centered on achieving membership growth and retention, preparing and conducting effective recruitment, turning potential members into active and engaged members. Here are some key things I learned from the session: * Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) Analysis being a strategic planning technique would inform the organization alot on taking needed actions * Focusing on a niche that makes your organization special can differentiate you from your competition and attract young leaders. * When joining JCI, members don't only contribute their time and efforts to improve their community, but they also gain valuable benefits. • The Ideal JCI member: - is energized by the JCI Mission and Vision - is active in their community - wants to grow and expand their horizons - is somewhat younger than than the average members. Stories are sticky. That is one of many practical lessons I learned when I was an ODKM student 15 years ago. Last night I experienced it again, listening to prospective students’ stories at the Schar information session last night. What was most interesting was how different each story was, as well as what attracted them to our executive master’s of science degree in Organizational Development and Knowledge Management (ODKM). One woman is a former banker from Azerbaijan who is looking for portable work as an expat spouse. Another is a PhD in global health who wants to explore ways to use KM to improve women’s health in Saudi Arabia. A third person manages a large airport project and wants to be able to understand the system of systems and communicate better with each stakeholder. How can one program address these divergent aspirations? I'm glad to be a part of this cohort. Its was intense, and a game changer. I'm now better informed on the processes of leading with integrity and making strategic decisions that may have dire consequences. 🎯Talking about decision making, I particularly took note of a word I heard for the first time and which was dissected by the crew from Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. That word is Mediating Assessment Protocol, (MAP): Protocols that signal if the decision is tending towards the right direction and expected impact. 👊Hmmm, sounds great right!!!! 🎯There was a whole lot of learning curves which has further shaped my mind and approach to doings things. 👏All thanks to Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation who has given me the platform to sail my ship with intelligible knowledge. 🎯Have you found yourself at cross roads on account of making the best decision?
