Navigating through life, the journey, I've come across diverse pathways, each with its own unique blend of challenges and joys. Looking back on the paths trudged, I've gained insights into personal growth and spiritual development. Reminiscing about the people who have walked alongside me, recognizing the transient nature of relationships as they ebb and flow like the markets. Today, I express gratitude for those who stand by my side, appreciating our relationship. Spread LOVE it's the Brooklyn Way....

This weekend I spent a lot of time in thought. Had some deep conversations with people I respect around our society, and things that have been "getting in the way" of us progressing, and building better communities. How we seem to have lost the art of being okay with making mistakes, or having imperfections in our lives, and how seeing them in others makes us instantly close our minds. How we don't take the time to assume that maybe someone doesn't have malicious intent. How we often fail to use our curiosity and listening skills to look beyond our own biases. We live in an age of assumptions. We forget we all have a story for how we got to where we are in our lives, and there are moments, even those viewed as failure, or not being 100% perfect, that should be reason to listen and try to understand. I happened upon (thank you algorithms for choosing it) Jeremy Renner's Brooks commmercial: https://lnkd.in/djbkU483. (Note this could be triggering for some of you). While it is acting, and there is money & privilege involved in what got him where he is there is the celebration of spirit and hope. Triumph in a place where you may not have expected it. In the video he says " the only power we have as human beings is our perspective, and to be able to change it". This hits home for me following my conversations. I am asking my community to shift and look for new perspectives. Open your mind to focus less on what isn't there, but instead on what could be there if you stop, listen and think. I have hope. I want better for all. I want a truly inclusive society. One in which we look at each other with compassion and suspend judgement. Where despite what our eyes tell us, or our assumptions and biases lead us to see we can see the possibility in imperfection. That as potentially "failed" humans we all have a story to tell that holds value and will only enrich other by them taking the time to listen. That sometimes people aren't looking to bring you down, but rather need you to tell them how they can lift you up, and you feel safe in saying it. #buildingbettercommunities #lookbeyond #createallies #safespaceforeveryone

DIDACHE HONOR ONE ANOTHER “Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged.” – James 5:9, NIV One of the reasons I don’t usually post or even read social media posts is that it is filled with negativity. Social media has elevated grumbling to an art. I have seen people complain about the pettiest things, and I wonder if we’re becoming so entitled that the slightest discomfort warrants telling the whole world. I believe we should focus on lifting each other up instead. I know it’s not easy, but it’s something that can be learned. I love the culture of honoring others that I learned in the community. This could be as simple as saying “Good work,” or, “I was blessed by what you did or said.” A kind word can make someone’s day and have a ripple effect, which eventually rebounds to me. We don’t do this often outside community, but I see no reason why we can’t do this. We’re quick to point out flaws when it’s just as easy to praise people. In fact, it’s the easiest way to invest in relationships. So I challenge you to honor at least one person every day, starting with the people at home, your workplace, or school. I am sure this will also brighten your day. Ped Faytaren (pedrito.faytaren@gmail.com) Reflect: “Respect is earned but honor is given.” (Craig Groeschel) Lord, use me to encourage others. Make me quick to catch people doing good and honor them for it. Amen. Saint Joanna, pray for us.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION “Don't let the sun go down without saying thank you to someone, and without admitting to yourself that absolutely no one gets this far alone.”— Stephen King In the tapestry of life, woven with shared moments and intertwined destinies, the significance of gratitude and acknowledgment becomes profoundly evident. "Don't let the sun go down without saying thank you to someone and without admitting to yourself that absolutely no one gets this far alone." These words encapsulate the essence of interconnectedness and the vital role others play in our journey. Expressing gratitude cultivates a culture of appreciation and serves as a humble recognition that our achievements are often a collaborative effort. Do you know who expresses everything they’re feeling without consideration for their impact on the world? Babies… Being ‘unfiltered’ is the least mature form of authenticity. It's wilfully ignorant of our relationship to the world and others in it. We are maturely authentic when we accept responsibility for our own expression while also recognizing the impact we have on the world/people around us. Don’t get me wrong… this isn’t a call for more suppression. Instead, consider that every part of you needs some expression, but what you’re responsible for is “where and how do I express these aspects of me that I choose honor?” and “what impact am I willing (or unwilling) to own about my authenticity”. Imagine knowing who you are, accepting yourself, accepting the impact of who you are, and THEN choosing to give that a voice in the world. That’s mature authenticity. ✨
