I’ve often said when it comes to photography…”The end justifies the means." Here is a photo of me waiting on Mr. Forrest Green of Lacombe, LA I wanted to get an over-under shot of him reeling in a speckled trout. We started catching specks in Todd's Bayou which is a very deep canal that winds through the marsh in Lacombe. I talked Green into turning me loose in the marsh. From there I walked about 40 feet from the boat to where the fish were biting. Then I proceeded to wait...and wait....and wait. We had been catching trout-after-trout and then it went dead. I waited on Green to catch a fish for over 20 minutes. During that time another angler snapped this shot of me sarcastically reclining back in the "Floatant". Floatant (flow tawnt) is French for "floating marsh". It consists of tightly entangled marsh plants and their roots, mixed with peat. You can't see it in this photo, but there is water underneath the grass where I am reclining. If I took my fist and punched through, my hand would go through the grass and into the water underneath. These photos are funny to me when they first come through on text. But as time goes on, I cherish them more and more because they are snapshots of the "means" that lead to the "end".
