As the year comes to a close and I reflect on the past year, I am so incredibly proud of my colleagues at Hartford HealthCare. Over the last year, Hartford HealthCare’s 37,000 colleagues have provided care to nearly 23,000 lives daily across 500 locations – bringing accessible and affordable care minutes away from most residents in the state. This could not be done without the dedication of our physicians, nurses, advanced practitioners, technicians and ancillary colleagues. Each and every day our colleagues are transforming healthcare delivery to provide the most innovative, excellent and safest care to all. Recently, Hartford HealthCare earned national recognition for its dedication to quality and safety and I’m extremely pleased to share a few of my highlights from 2023:
Leapfrog Group: Achieving all A’s for all 7 of our acute care hospitals
Society for Thoracic Surgeons star ranking for Hartford Hospital: 1 of 4 hospitals in the nation to earn perfect ratings in all five cardiothoracic categories
Healthgrades: Earning 56 total awards and 5-star ratings from Healthgrades – the most recognized system in Connecticut
Best Kidney Graft Survival Rate: Hartford HealthCare’s transplant program at Hartford Hospital recognized as the best one-year kidney graft survival rate in the nation
Commitment to Diversity: increased spending with minority, small-business and women-owned suppliers by 80%, with a goal of $250M
Bringing Care to our Communities: 2,500 Hartford HealthCare volunteers provided free care and services to 2,400 people on a single day across Connecticut during Hartford HealthCare’s Medical Mission
All of this would not be possible without an unwavering commitment by our CEO and President Jeffrey Flaks and thousands of physicians , nurses and adminsitrative leaders across the HHC who share a common value and deep sense of ownership to bring best and affordable healthcare to Connecticut.
I’m so thankful for our compassionate team of caregivers, what they do for Hartford HealthCare and all that we are privileged to serve. I look forward to another fantastic year in 2024.
