"Part of a CIO’s role is to demystify AI, show how it will be helpful, and explain how the organization is safely and appropriately adopting it." Great insights from Daniel Barchi and others in this smart piece on CIO Online.
Now -- maybe more than ever -- CIOs need to be effective #communicators and #change agents for their organizations regarding AI. Crafting detailed visions and narratives about AI's potential will be critical in easing employee concerns and finding the "art of the possible."

In the KPMG US Generative #AI Survey that was updated in June:
👉97% of leaders agree to some extent that generative AI will play a role in allowing their organization’s employees to be more thoughtful and creative by relieving them from manual processes.
while
👉84% of those leaders believe that generative AI will have a positive impact on their workforce.
and
👉75% are confident in their ability to mitigate risks associated with generative AI.
All positive positions from leaders. But are their employees as positive? Have they implemented #changemanagement plans? Who is in charge of these change plans? How are they #communicating the shifts throughout their organization? Do they have an AI plan/philosophy for the entire organization? What does that roadmap look like? Are they re-training their employees? Does mitigation of risks include reputation risk?

Leading Ethical and Responsible AI Conversations
This report from KPMG will be interesting to follow as they continue to update quarterly. Aligning survey results with reality can be tricky sometimes especially when change is happening at the speed of light.
What we are seeing in reality is:
- Concern and fear
- Siloed implementations
- No clear leader or change management plan
- The wild west of AI platforms throughout organizations as employees are self-training and looking for efficiencies on their own
- New platform developers that haven't yet thought through how their platforms will be used in the real world
- The speed of change is overwhelming organizations
- Ethics and Responsible Use is fuzzy and unenforceable
What are you seeing?
