Insightful strategist. Decisive leader. Respected thought partner. Culture champion.

When someone comes to us for help making a hard decision, it can be both flattering and anxiety-inducing. I love Cheryl Strauss Einhorn's reminder that before we jump into problem-solving mode, it's crucial we take the time to really listen to our friend or colleague. While #ActiveListening doesn't always come naturally, it is a great skill to practice, especially for leaders. So the next time your co-workers ask for help, take a step back and really listen to the problem. #Leadership #ProblemSolving

Agreed Kathleen Nekola. As a certified coach I can tell you that active listening is a critical skill that takes a lot of time to learn and a lifetime to hone. It is also a skill that can be used to determine whether you will give advice or guide your employee on the path to making the decision themselves. When you listen actively you may discover that it's not the actual decision that is so difficult but an underlying belief about making that decision.

This is a great article. Kathy, I’ve been trying to reach you with no luck. I messaged you a while ago on LinkedIn.
