Balancing a career and being an active parent can be really challenging. Today, my 12-year-old daughter reminded me that we can all be kinder to ourselves by slipping me this sticky note during one of my meetings. It means more to me than any performance review ever could. While I've missed some important moments over the years, my kiddos are also learning some lessons about hard work.

Thanks for posting, Kate. It’s honest and compassionate proof that our kids do watch everything we do, and quite often realize how it affects them personally. As much as it pains us to have to be away from them sometimes because of work, it teaches them the value, and the benefits, of working. A lesson that they will carry into their adulthood and pass on to their children. Great job, mom!

Love this - and you are 100% this is the most important review in life.

That is the most amazing thing, ever.

It's so easy and valuable to share these otherwise seemingly inconsequential compliments. Great job, Mom, in creating the environment for her to share this, raising her to see it, and being the role model you are for her to think it!

Evidence that you are raising empathetic children! So, yeah ... you're exceptional at your profession and clearly equally stellar in your most important job: mom.

I would suggest putting the date on that Post-it - and framing it! Those reminders are always needed and appreciated in the future 😊
