Navigating Recruitment Challenges in Fashion: Insights from a Recent Exchange and Understanding the Value of Quality Service Over Cost in Fashion Recruitment! Yesterday, I had an enlightening email exchange with the newly appointed leader of a prominent fashion brand struggling to find suitable candidates for key roles. I congratulated them on their new position and offered Karen Collier Careers' recruitment services. Their initial response focused on our fees and the clients we have worked with rather than our approach. I explained that we prefer to discuss fees after having a detailed conversation about the specific needs and requirements of the roles. This approach ensures we can deliver a tailored service that perfectly meets their expectations. Additionally, we uphold strict client confidentiality and do not disclose our clients' identities. They responded with a succinct request for our fee structure. While I understand the importance of budgeting, it is disheartening to see cost prioritised over quality service. Our fees are industry standard, and choosing an agency based on lower fees often means less time and effort are invested in finding the perfect candidate. Just as investing in a higher-priced garment ensures durability and long-term value, selecting the right recruitment partner ensures access to the best candidates and long-term success. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about our services or if we can help you find the ideal candidate for your organisation. The Importance of Giving Blood and Personal Regret! Blood donation is a selfless act that saves lives, and the NHS always needs donors. Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have recently highlighted this in a campaign urging people to donate. Their efforts underscore that donating blood is quick and can save up to three lives per donation. This is especially crucial for those with rare blood types and specific ethnic backgrounds, such as people of Black heritage, due to the need for ethnically matched blood. I have a profound connection to the importance of blood donation. As a baby, I needed two blood transfusions due to my rare blood type. This early life-saving intervention has always stayed with me. However, I regret that, despite being aware of the critical need for blood donors and my unique blood type, I never donated when I could. Life gets busy, and it’s easy to postpone such acts, thinking there will always be another opportunity. Unfortunately, after recovering from cancer, I am now unable to donate blood, a situation that fills me with regret. Knowing that the NHS often faces shortages of rare blood types, I feel a sense of missed responsibility. My past inaction weighs heavily because I understand the desperate need for donors who can help those in critical conditions. Each donation can be a lifeline for patients battling illnesses, undergoing surgeries, or suffering from severe injuries. If you can donate blood, seize the opportunity. It’s a simple yet profoundly impactful way to contribute to society. Please do not wait until it’s too late, as I did. By giving blood, you can save lives and be a real-life hero. 🌟 Friendly Reminder 🌟 We all receive sales emails in our inboxes from time to time. It's a standard part of our professional lives. These emails often come from hardworking individuals trying to make a living, just like the rest of us. Before hitting "delete" or responding with frustration, let's remember: Empathy Goes a Long Way: The person behind that email is putting in effort, facing rejection, and persevering. A little kindness can make their day. Politeness Costs Nothing: If you're not interested, a simple, polite "no thank you" is more than sufficient. It shows respect and maintains professionalism. We're All in This Together: Whether we're selling a product, a service, or an idea, we're all working towards our goals. Let's support each other with understanding and grace. Next time you receive a sales email, please consider the person on the other side. A touch of courtesy can make a big difference. Thank you for being a fantastic community! #ProfessionalCourtesy #Sales #Empathy #Professionalism #SupportEachOther

Navigating the 'Corporate' Stereotype in Hiring! Last week, I encountered an interesting situation that highlighted a common misconception in hiring. A client initially declined to interview a candidate solely based on their experience working at a large organisation, deeming it "too corporate." However, having met the candidate, I knew their personality was far from corporate, shaped by the creative role they held within the company. This scenario underscores an important point: not all corporate experiences are equal. Each department within a company harbours a distinct culture and calibre of employees tailored to the nature of their work. For instance, finance professionals may adopt a structured approach, while those in creative roles thrive on flexibility and innovation. Dismissing candidates based on their blanket perception of the company they worked for overlooks the diverse environments within larger organisations. By doing so, they might miss out on talented individuals who could perfectly fit their teams. I’m glad to say that the client interviewed this candidate based on our recommendation and reassurance that they were not corporate. Although the candidate did not get the job, as another candidate had slightly more experience, the client acknowledged that they would have fit well into their company culture. Let’s challenge these stereotypes and examine each candidate's unique experience and potential. After all, creativity and adaptability can flourish in any environment, regardless of the corporate label. #Hiring #Recruitment #CorporateCulture #TalentAcquisition #WorkplaceDiversity
