With Net Zero and Zero Waste targets drawing closer and natural resources dwindling, it is imperative that the construction industry quickly moves towards a more circular model. We recently talked with Project Scotland about some of the changes that need to be made in the industry in the coming years for this to happen. Check out the article below 👇 #circulareconomy #zerowaste #netzero
"Either we can choose to open up more of the country to quarrying, or we can encourage the construction sector to recycle more of the waste products from excavation, and to buy recycled sands and aggregates to build with," said Scott Brewster, MD of Brewster Brothers. https://lnkd.in/ebp9_DWr

One of the hot topics we discussed was how EPDs are a game changer for sustainable, low-carbon construction. To find out just how much carbon you could save on the aggregates in your next project, check out our carbon calculator: https://lnkd.in/ejQTUYyb Thanks again for coming out to see us ATS! Thoroughly impressed by the innovative sustainable products you're creating. #netzero #carbon #sustainabledevelopment #sustainableconstruction #circulareconomy
One of a kind! That’s Brewster Brothers’ advanced aggregate recycling facility. ↳ It’s a unique development in the UK. It will help companies like ATS and EnergyScreed change construction forever. It aligns with our values and mission to push for more sustainable and lower-carbon construction. Special thanks to Andrew Dunn for arranging the tour. And your hospitality!

Aurora's largest upcycling quarry and concrete plant at Epping recently hosted the Victorian branch of the Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA) Young Member Network. It was a pleasure to guide the group through our process; from receivals of waste excavation stone from civil construction sites all the way through to final crushed rock, aggregate and ready-mixed concrete products. There were some fantastic questions asked, such as how does Aurora optimise its process without a traditional virgin-rock quarry pit to blend big & small, clean & dirty, wet & dry? Like many aspects of the circular economy, the answer is perseverance. Our quarry and concrete teams talked the group through how we've spent the past SEVENTEEN YEARS perfecting the process......only to then acknowledge that as Aurora believes in the principle of Continuous Improvement.....there is no such thing as a perfect process! Are you fresh out of school or university and looking to join the recycling/upcycling economy? We'd love to hear from you.

#ThrowbackThursday to when we first installed asphalt containing a recovered carbon product made from old tyres as part of the Pound Road West Upgrade. One year ago today, we celebrated the start of a two year trial of an alternative asphalt product in partnership with Tyre Stewardship Australia, Major Road Projects Victoria, Entyr Limited, Seymour Whyte and Alex Fraser. In a Victorian-first, a 500-metre stretch of road was laid with asphalt containing a recovered carbon product extracted from waste tyres. This was used in place of the fine ground limestone normally used, but is subject to a very carbon intensive mining and manufacturing process. The early results have been nothing short of extraordinary! As can be seen in the picture below – the asphalt containing the recovered carbon product (the right carriageway) is showing little to no wear and tear. This is a remarkable result and demonstrates the continued success of the Recycled First Policy in driving better engineering and sustainability outcomes. These trials are of vital importance to measure the performance of new sustainable construction materials in real world conditions and make these products business-as-usual. Make sure you keep an eye on this page to see the full results of the trial in a years’ time! #innovation #greenerinfrastucture #recycling

CEO of Produktif a design & technology firm. Cofounder of United Village Global. Helping people realize sustainable prosperity.
After Produktif + Omtre + TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology recent EU-Horizon win, forming the “Nordic Team” as part of the Drastic recycling and reuse project, we see large market potential for Norwegian element producers (like Splitkon AS?) to form part of a consortium strategy directed towards the export of Norway products and services in the construction sector. This sector needs to reorganize its supply chain and package products as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS). Wirh AI, automation and platform-based solutions Produktif can help you productize. How are we going to build tomorrow? — better together.
Today Krister Moen and Ivar Ragnhildstveit visited Splitkon AS - one of the big timber construction product manufacturers in Norway. Omtre is interested in giving a new purpose to their “wood surplus”. However, establishing a circular economy is a “value chain effort”. Omtre can not do this alone and collaboration with different actors along the value chain is key.

♻️ Recycling isn't just about bins, skips and reusable water bottles. 🚮 🛠️ Repair and repurpose old items to extend their lifespan. Share your upcycling projects with us! ♻️ ♻️ We offer aggregates to construction sites around London and Hertfordshire. Benefitting for both for the environment and the construction industry itself for a few reasons: 1️⃣ Recycling aggregates reduces the need for extracting and depleting natural resources like sand, gravel, and crushed stone. 2️⃣ The process of recycling aggregates typically consumes less energy compared to mining and processing virgin materials. 3️⃣ Recycling construction waste into aggregates reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills. Meet the Crushers – Jaw and Cone! These guys do A LOT of heavy work here at Rino. 💪 They’re an integral step in the recycling of construction, demolition and excavation waste – designed to provide excellent reduction of such waste for the production of high-quality aggregate and road base materials. At Rino, we RECLAIM large heavy concrete, rock, bricks and dirt running them through a series of crushing, separating and sorting processes and finally our wash plant to REFINE the product ready for REUSE back on civil and construction projects. Our process is a blueprint for the circular economy and demonstration of how we deliver sustainable results for our customers. https://lnkd.in/gWRpDsfE #recycled #construction #infrastructure #sustainability #circulareconomy

Willshee’s Swadlincote facility receives residual waste streams from a number of sources including our own skip hire business, commercial and industrial customers, construction and demolition sites and local authorities. This material is processed in our materials recycling facility to produce solid recovered fuel (SRF) which is used as a feedstock for incineration in the cement making process. The system we have in place allows for recyclable materials to be removed from the input stream by way of mechanical separation, with approximately 67% being removed as recyclable material - made up of aggregates, wood, metals and plastics of various kinds. The 33% balance is our solid recovered fuel (SRF). See the process in action here: https://lnkd.in/e_V3Zqc3

We're big advocates of the importance of recycling: we have skip loads of scrap metal that has been reclaimed from construction sites - consisting of old, end-of-life gully grates and covers - which will be melted down and re-manufactured into new products. #recycling #construction #buildersmerchants #infrastructure #drainage #watermanagement #buildingmaterials #groundworks #facilitiesmanagement #engineering #kitemark #architecture #specifiers #water #bridges #bridgedrainage #steel #housebuilding #rail #housebuilders #compositematerials #trade #manholecovers #accesscovers #utilities #environment #eccles #
